Get to Know Our New Organist and Director of Music
John D. Charles (Jack) has had a life long love of music for piano, organ and voice. In high school he was ac-
tive in chorus and beginning in tenth grade participated in the in District, Regional, State and National Chorus
Festivals of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. In his sophomore year he began to study organ,
and in his Junior and Senior years he was assistant organist of his church.
Early in his freshman year at West Chester University he was hired to be organist and choir director of the
adult and children's choir at Malvern Presbyterian Church. He graduated and attained his Masters Degree in
Music Education from West Chester University. Over the years he earned approximately ninety post gradu-
ate credits from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.
Upon graduation from West Chester University he taught classroom music for two years at Audubon and
Worcester Elementary schools in the Methacton School District. He then moved to Schwenksville School Dis-
trict where he taught elementary classroom music and also conducted the Elementary, Junior High and High
School Choruses. Several years later, when the Schwenksville School District merged with the Collegeville
Trappe District he was immediately made Music Department Chairman, taught High School Chorus and con-
ducted the annual Broadway musical.
Over the years after graduation from college, Jack has been Director of Music at several Lutheran church-
es. These include Augustus Trappe, Grace Royersford, St. John Phoenixville and St. Luke Devon. In 1983 he
became an Associate In Ministry. When Larry Hand was Bishop of Southeastern Pennsylvania he served on
the Synod Music Committee and was organist for several conferences.
Jack and his wife Andrea have a daughter Elizabeth, married to Matthew Francisco. They have two grandchil-
dren, Sean who is ten and Heather who is seven.
“To Know Christ and Make Him Known”

Recruit, train and support teachers of the Sunday Church School and Adult Forum in their educational leadership roles at Centennial.
Raise awareness among all members that the home, following Luther’s example, is a key place where faith development can take place.
Assist small group ministries such as Families with Young Children, equipping them for growing in discipleship.
Support Youth Ministry, fostering growth in discipleship and faith development.
This position is initially designed for 10-12 hours per week. To carry out this ministry, the Coordinator of Faith Development is expected to be present on most Sunday mornings and some evenings. Please submit resume to [email protected] or mail to PO Box 840, Kimberton PA 19442.
We have found that one of the best ways to find people to fill positions at church is by “word of mouth” so if you know
someone who may be interested in the new Coordinator of Faith position below, please forward on this information.

Grandma’s Attic The months are flying by and we are already thinking about our 23rd
Annual Christmas Crafts Festival on Saturday, November 12 from 9 AM until 2 PM.
Grandma needs a new supply of items in good, “sell-able” condition for her attic so if
you do any sorting or cleaning out at your house, remember Grandma and put aside
things that we can sell in November. Popular items are jewelry, toys, dolls, dishes,
kitchen items, purses, accessories, knick-knacks, videos, DVDs, jigsaw puzzles, books,
games, lamps and all kinds of collectibles in good condition and mostly small enough
to fit on a table. We have sold curtains, tablecloths and sheets in excellent condition. Due to limited
storage space at the church, please keep your treasures at home until the week before the crafts festi-
val. There are also registration forms in the church office if you are interested in renting a table. Email
[email protected] or call 610-933-1528.
Care Team ministers to members of our congregation who are homebound. If you are in need of services from the Care Team or know of a member who may need assis-tance, please contact Care Team leaders Diana Moffett (484-524-8795) or Deanna Kal-mbach (610-933-6204).
