Bob’s Thoughts…

A New Walk

“The third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: His going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto us as the rain,

as the latter and former rain unto the earth.” - Hosea 6:2-3

There is a lot of talk about the resurrection during Easter time, and rightly so. But the resurrection should remain prominent in our thoughts all of the time! It’s the resurrection side of the cross that makes all the difference in how we live. So, how do we live? There’s no true living apart from the resurrection power of Almighty God. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to raise us up and enable us to live. It is that power which imparts the life of Christ to us. When Christ arose on the third day, we arose together with Him in order that we might walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4). As a result of the resurrection, we can now live in His presence (sight). That means we’ve been grant-ed perpetual face-time with the Lord, in His presence. We are able to live in His presence by His very life within us! It is an awesome responsibility.

But, you’ve got to know how! Everyone recognizes the importance of “know how” but, where does this “know how” come from? The only “know how” that really matters comes from the Lord! Thus God made the stipulation that you would know, when and only if, you “follow on to know the Lord.” But how do you do that? We must pursue an on-going relationship with Him. How? We must be looking to and listening to Him. Jesus said He only did what He saw His Father do or say what He heard His Father say (John 5:19, 30). You must do likewise! God is dependable! He will give you what you need and in just the right way Concentrate on getting to know Him and He will take care of the rest!

Have a Great Week! Bob

The Family Life…

Christian Counseling Sometimes professional assistance can provide aid where friends and family cannot. Pathstones has licensed mental health professionals from churches across the Greater Longview area who volunteer their time and skills as a service to God and to the community. Because South Main is a monthly supporter of Path-stones, the first 4 visits for any of our members are free. If you would like to set up a visit with them or would like more information, call Pathstones at 903-248-2480. You can also visit their website at www.pathstones.org

Mission Statement The South Main Church of Christ is a loving and caring group of believers who accept the joy and

responsibility of carrying out the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ.

HIM Canned Food Drive Henderson Interchurch Ministry is a local faith-based charity that provides much needed assistance to many low-income families in our area. They are currently running very low on canned goods to aid these families during the lean times. If you can help us restock their shelves, please begin bringing canned foods such as, soups, beans, vege-tables, baby foods & formula, etc. and drop them off in the office or in the Fellowship Hall.

Ladies Ministry Ladies, we are in need of volunteers to help with the women’s prison baptisms through the end of the year. If you’d like to help, please add your name to the list in the foyer. The baptism dates are listed. If you’d like more information, contact Bob or Dee Brown.
