Then “Mystery Karaoke” at the Community Activity Center this Friday (Aug 24) at 1900) is designed just for you. Hidden behind the curtain, singers will be judge by their voice not their looks. There will be both a Youth (ages 10-17) and Open (18 & above) Division, with the top two finishers in each division receiving prizes. Winners from the Open Division will also be entered as a finalist (if desired) in the Camp Humphreys Rising Star competition scheduled for Oct 13 as part of Oktoberfest. Mystery Karaoke Friday

MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

Are you one of those people who sounds great in the shower but freeze when you get in front an audience?

Then “Mystery Karaoke” at the Community Activity Center this Friday (Aug 24) at 1900) is designed just for you.

Hidden behind the curtain, singers will be judge by their voice – not their looks. There will be both a Youth (ages 10-17) and Open (18 & above) Division, with the top two finishers in each division receiving prizes.

Winners from the Open Division will also be entered as a finalist (if desired) in the Camp Humphreys Rising Star competition scheduled for Oct 13 as part of Oktoberfest.

News of note …

TRIATHLON REGISTRATION – Register now for the Sep 8 Youth & Adult Triathlons scheduled for Splish & Splash Waterpark. The Youth Triathlon will start at 0730 with check-in starting at 0645. The Adult Triathlon will start at 0830. Pre-Register at any Gym or by calling 753-8031 (031-690-8031).

YOUTH TRIATHLON SKILLS CAMPS -- Youngsters interested in preparing for the Triathlon Sep 8 are being offered two free preparation clinics. The first will be Wednesday, Sep 5 at Splish & Splash Water Park and the second on Thursday, Sep 6 at the Zoeckler Track. Both clinics are scheduled for 1730-1900. The first clinic will deal with water-to-bike transition and the second bike-to-running transition. Contact Youth Sports at 753-5601 for more details.

BOSS TRIP OPEN TO ALL – The Camp Humphreys BOSS trip to Herb Hills Adventure Park in Daegu Sep 1-2 is now open to everyone. Cost is $100 per person which includes 3 rope agility courses, zipline, water park, hiking trails and botanical gardens plus overnight accommodations. For more information contact the Camp Humphreys BOSS office at 753-8970. Payment can be made at the CAC front desk.

YOUTH SPORTS REGISTRATION – Registration is now open for Youth Soccer and Youth Flag Football. Parents must register their youngsters at Parent Central. Call 753-5601 (031-690-5601) for further information. For Soccer, there’s a participation fee of $20 for the Developmental Program (ages 3-5) and $40 for those 6-18. The Flag Football participation fee is also $40.

BEST VOCALS III – Tommy D’s is offering another Best Vocals at the Hump Karaoke Contest each Wednesday with the top two weekly winners advancing to the finals on Sep 19. The top three finishers in the finals will earn a berth in the Camp Humphreys Rising Stars Finals planned as part of OktoberFest, Oct 13. Contact Herb Hart at 753-7532 for further details.

POST-LEVEL REGISTRATION – Names are being gathered by Camp Humphreys Sports for individuals interested in playing for the Post-Level Flag Football, Powder Puff Football and Soccer teams. Sign-up at any Gym or contact the Super Gym at 753-8031 (031-690-8031) for further details. The Powder Puff team is open to female Family members who are out of high school and at least 18 years of age.

NEXT YARD SALE SEPTEMBER 1 – The next Community Yard Sale is scheduled for the Commissary Parking Lot on Saturday, Sep 1. Tables are $10 each, with awnings an additional $10. If you have PCS orders in a 60-day window, tables are $5. Call Outdoor Rec at 753-3013 (031-690-3013) to reserve your spot.

AFAP – Got an issue you want addressed at the upcoming Army Family Action Plan Workshop? Issue boxes can be found throughout Camp Humphreys or at Army Community Service (ACS). AFAP will be October 18-19.

Time is ticketing down to win your vacation package

Have you tried your hand at the Great Getaway Vacation Sweepstakes sponsored by the Army’s Armed Forces Recreation Centers yet?

It’s easy to enter and you could win one of four grand prizes – including a vacation for four to Shades of Green at DisneyWorld in Florida.

The contest is jointly sponsored by the Armed Forces Recreation Centers and GM Military Discount. It is open to US military personnel, DoD Civilian employees, US military retirees and their Family members.

No Water @ Super Gym

The Super Gym will be without water all day Thursday, August 23, but will remain open.

The only exceptions are Kid’s on Site and the Super Gym Indoor Pool – both of which will be closed all day. Call 753-8031 (031-690-8031) for more information.
