done so, please bring them to the Finance Office as soon as possible.

There are a few upcoming trips which are still unpaid for some stu-dents. Please can all parents make sure they are checking their

Karate Success Congratulations to Will Don (9MITIR) on his excellent progress in karate! In

January he went to Liverpool to try out for the KUGB (Karate Union of Great

Britain) England Squad and was select-ed along with four other members

from his club. He now trains regularly in Liverpool alongside an elite group of

athletes from across the country and has already competed in a ‘Grand Slam’

international tournament. Will also competed in the KUGB National Cham-pionships back in May; he was entered into three categories - individual kumi-te (contact sparring), individual black belt kata (patterns) and Team Kata,

which is a set sequence performed with two others from his club and focusses

on speed, timing and accuracy.

Will's team won GOLD in this event, which was the club’s biggest ever tournament success to date. Finally, he excelled at the Southern Region tournament held in Crawley a few weeks ago. This is a region-al tournament for all clubs in the South of England and Somerset Ryū Club finished top of the medal table overall. Will came away with two gold medals, one for Boys 12-15 Individual Kumite (contact sparring) and another in the Team Kata. He was one of the stand out perform-

ers at the whole event. What an amazing set of achievements - well done Will!
