1. FAMILY AND MORALE, WELFARE AND RECREATION (FMWR)

Family Fun Friday - Enjoy FREE pizza and games at the Tropics Recreation Center, 1 Apr at 1800. For additional details, call 655-5698. Latin Night @ Kolekole Bar & Grill - Join DJ Ever from 2000-2100 at the Kolekole Bar and Grill on 1 Apr, as he teaches Latin dances such as salsa and merengue. Then practice your new dance steps from 2100-2400 as he performs live. For more information, call 655-4466. Learn to Swim - Session #2: 11-21 Apr (Register 2 & 3 Apr). Registration will be held for 2 days only at Richardson Pool from 0900-1100. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Children must be registered with CYSS and card must be shown in order to register for classes. Read to the Dogs @ Aliamanu Library & SGT Yano Library - Our volunteer therapy dogs and service dogs from Hawaii Fido are non-judgmental and comforting to children who need to practice their reading and improve their fluency. Children who are able to read on their own may sign up for a 15-minute session to read to a dog on Saturday 2 Apr from 0900-1015 at the AMR and SGT Yano Libraries on Saturday, 9 Apr, 1100-1215. PT in the Park - Parents and their children are invited to join Mickey and friends at the Bennett Youth Center Field, 5 Apr from 0630-0730 for a 30-minute Mousercise Aerobic routine followed by a Continental Breakfast. Award Winning Reads Book Club @ SGT Yano Library - It’s a new year of books for Award Winning Reads. Children ages 8-12 are welcome to come and join in the conversation with these amazing books that have either won or are nominated for an award. The new meeting time is 1530-1630. Come for the discussion and stay for the fun activities on 5 Apr when Floating Circus by Tracie Vaughn Zimmer will be discussed. Crocheting with Plarn @ the Libraries – Plarn is plastic yarn that has been recycled from grocery bags. The staff will teach participants how to turn ordinary plastic shopping bags into “plarn”, and share some ideas for fun crochet patterns. It will be helpful to know how to crochet, but it is not necessary. Bring an N hook and 2-3 plastic bags to start with. Sessions will be held on 5 Apr at the AMR Library, 6 Apr at the Fort Shafter Library, and 7 Apr at the SGT Yano Library. All programs will run from 1700-1830. Tropics Tasty Tuesday & Open Stage Night - Show off your talent no matter what it is and enjoy an evening of food and drink specials every 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Tropics Recreation Center. Afterschool @ SGT Yano Library - Elementary age children are invited to enjoy a National Library Week program “I love my library” on 6 Apr. The program runs from 1500-1545. Theatre Thursdays at SGT Yano Library - Learn the basics of stage acting in our ongoing theatre program for ages 12 and up. Meetings will be held the first and third Thursday of the month (7 & 21 Apr) 1600-1730. Learn stage presence, acting skills, improvisation techniques, and the various types of theatre. Blue Star Card Program Information: Blue Star Card SUPERSTAR Punch Card is a recent initiative. If you attend Blue Star Card events, you will receive a Blue Star Card SUPERSTAR punch card. After attending 10 Blue Star Card events and filling your punch card, you will receive a FREE Blue Star Card t-shirt! Blue Star Card Event No-Show Policy - Starting 1 Feb, the Blue Star Card program implemented its event no-show policy. If you register for a Blue Star Card event and cannot attend, you must cancel your reservation by 1200 the day before the event. If you fail to cancel your reservation and do not attend, you will be considered a no-show, which will result in you automatically being wait-listed for the next month’s events. It is our goal to include as many Blue Star Card holders as possible in our events and, by implementing this policy, we hope to achieve this goal. The Blue Star Card Printer Station has moved to Fort Shafter! - The Blue Star Card printer station has moved from Tripler ACS to Fort Shafter ACS. Eligible patrons on the South side will need to go to the Fort Shafter ACS located at the Fort Shafter Aloha Center, Bldg 330, Clark Road, to get a Blue Star Card from now on. The printer station at Schofield Barracks ACS is still available and unaffected by this move. Regular Blue Star Card registration requirements still apply. The cards offer spouses discounts at FMWR facilities, activities, and special events and are valid throughout the entire deployment. The School Liaison Office reminds parents with children 10 years of age and older to complete the Military Child in Hawaii survey at www.hawaiikids.org. The survey is for public, private, charter, and homeschooled students to share their experience with moving in and out of Hawaii. Data will be used to improve the quality of education for military children in Hawaii. The Army has a goal of 1500 participants by 1 Jul, so please fill out the survey today and be eligible for iTunes cards, MP3 Players, and a flat screen HD TV. 3. ARMY COMMUNITY SERVICE (ACS)

Care Response Team (CRT) Training - Volunteers are trained to provide short-term care and support to Families of Fallen, and severely injured Soldiers or Family members. CRTs offer support and assistance to Families immediately following the tragic news. CRT is a Command asset and volunteers are recruited and organized at the Company or Battalion level from within the Family Readiness Group (FRG) or Family membership. FAMILY ADVOCACY PROGRAM EDUCATION DEPARTMENT Anger Awareness - Would you like to be able to control your temper better? Wish you didn't yell so much? We can help!
