“Renew + Rebuild” Our Capital Campaign

Stabilize the Church Temperature The Holy Trinity Capital Campaign Committee, required by the Archdiocese to raise funds for a capital project in every parish, was formed, under the chairmanship of Bob Murphy last Tuesday. In the coming months, we’ll ALL have a chance to contribute to this important effort, benefitting not only ourselves, but the generations to come.

* * * * * * * * Organized

To Care for Your Soul Please take the time to read today’s BULLETIN INSERT. It is meant to familiarize parishioners with the organization of parishioners for the “care of souls” here at Holy Trinity. It’s not meant to be breezed through, but carefully read and informed. Keep it handy for reference. * * * * * * * *

Saints Alive! For Daily Mass Goers

Here’s an original gift for the parish. Each day (Monday through Saturday), parishioners may approach this ordinary looking binder, entitled “Putting Faces on the Names of the Saints,” on a kneeler in the middle aisle of our church, to see a large, beautiful portrait of the saint of the day, and read a few brief words on his/her life. The plan is to update the binder the first day of each month. Look for it. It belongs to each of us.

Formal Blessings Sep. 18th All of our CATECHISTS will be blessed at the 9:30 Mass on Catechetical Sunday. Sep. 25th All of our LITURGICAL MINISTERS (Acolytes, Eucharistic Ministers, Cantors, Sacristans, etc.) will be blessed at EACH MASS. We do this at the beginning of the Parish Year to help everyone understand that there are many parts to the Body of Christ and each has its responsibilities. * * * * * * * *

Calling All LECTORS Save the Date

Monsignor and Stephanie Miller, Lector Chair, would like to meet in the rectory parlor with all of our 14 Lectors to pray, update and encourage one another. This ministry is critical to our parish and we would like to affirm these men and women who are so dependable. Sun., Sep. 11th, 4:00 PM is the make-up meeting. Thank you for giving of yourselves for the good of our parish. * * * * * * * *

Literature Racks Up and Ready Well, the new Parish Year (Sep-May) has begun, and a good sign of that is availability of new, free literature on the racks at the back of the church. As intelligent people, blessed with an explicit faith, we must take “faith seeking understanding” our lifelong quest, and here at Holy Trinity we see faith in action all the time. What a parish! * * * * * * * *

Let Us Pause Once Again September 11, 2001

Fifteen years ago, we were aghast at the unprovoked attacks on the nation in New York City, in Washington, DC, and in Shanksksville, PA. It behooves us to pray for (1) the repose of the souls whose lives were taken so unjustly on the unforgettable day, and (2) the comfort of the relatives who still suffer, and (3) the first responders who bravely risked their lives, in many, cases, for strangers. * * * * * * * *

CHRISTIAN INITIATION (RCIA) The Road to Becoming a Catholic

Do you know someone who considers the Christian faith important, someone attends church regularly, but who has never been baptized? Maybe this someone was

baptized in another Christian tradition and wishes to become a Catholic … that someone may be YOU… Contact Gary Cushing at 212-787-0634. This year’s sessions resume Wednesday, Sept. 21st at 7:30 PM.

Most people don’t think about it, but our parish outreach to the neighborhood’s poor by means of the monthly Holy Trinity Food Pantry and the daily Holy Trinity Breakfast Line is possible only because of (1) dedicated volunteers (some of whom are not Catholic; some not Christian!), (2) the anonymous donations from parishioners and non-parishioners, and (3) the consistent and dependable support of local vendors. Among others, we would like to thank the following: Caf”e 82, Hampton Chutney, Mille Feuilles Bakery and Café, and Europan Café. This is all done in the name of “Holy Trinity Parish” … that is YOU and ME! What a parish!

Holy Trinity Schola to Sing

at United Nations Prayer Service The Holy Trinity Schola Cantorum (Choir for the 11:15 Sunday Masses), under the direction of Director of Music & Organist Dr. Andrew Yeargin, will perform at an ecumenical prayer service marking the opening of the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The service will be led by U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and Archbishop Benardito Auza, the Holy See’s Representative to the U.N. Archbishop Auza celebrated Mass at Holy Trinity in June 2015, when our new processional cross was dedicated. The Schola will sing a wide variety of uplifting choral music in many of the U.N.’s official language: including music by Pavel Chesnokov, Maurice Duruflé and McNeil Robinson, as well as the celebrated anthem “I was glad” by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry. The service is Tuesday, September 13th at 6:00 PM at the Church of the Holy Family, E. 47th St. & First Ave.

“Sube a mi Cruz. No tengamos miedo.
