You’re Invited!This year, LVS, is holding it very first Fall Harvest Dance! It is a great chance to see old friends and meet new ones! We have a bunch of activities planned! So bring a pumpkin to paint and old clothes to make a scarecrow! Just come dressed in semi-formal attire. It is $1 per person to get in all money will go to Breast Cancer Awareness. And we are raffling off goodies for anyone bringing clothing such as mittens, gloves, socks, hats, long sleeves shirts, or anything that can be used for winter to our clothing drive! We hope to see you there!

Photography Scholars Program - High School StudentsNelson-Atkins Museum of Art – Kansas CityThe Photography Scholars Program leads students through the process of professional artistic practice. Working in close partnership with the museum’s curatorial staff and an outside, professional artist, participants will create a body of work around a central theme in photography. Short weekly reading, research, or photographic assignments will be required. By the end of the program, students will have developed a portfolio of images and created a professional artist statement. The program culminates with a student exhibition and opening reception for parents, friends, and teachers presented in the Ford Learning Center galleries.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Photography Scholars Program is a partnership between schools in the Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri area and The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The application process is competitive: students must be nominated by a teacher, and a maximum of two students per school will be accepted.

Application PeriodThe application period opens in early October and runs through early December for program workshops that begin in late January of the following year.

Contact Ms. Wilkins if you are interested in applying and can commit to all eight Saturday workshop dates. You must be nominated by a teacher so all applications will go through me first.
