Upcoming Events and Announcements

THAT MAN IS YOU! SUMMER PROGRAM For all men 18 and older who want to learn more about the role of our Blessed Mother in the life of Jesus, That Man Is You! has begun a new summer program: The Bible and the Virgin Mary based on the book Hail, Holy Queen by Dr. Scott Hahn. TMIY will meet for 11 weeks in the CNE on Sunday mornings from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Rosary at 6:30 a.m.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION We will be celebrating the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) on Sunday, June 18 with Adoration after the 12:30 Mass to 4:30 p.m., followed by a procession to Divine Mercy Syro Malabar Church, where we will be having Vespers and Benediction and processing back to St. Joseph for 6:00 p.m. Mass.

ALTAR SOCIETY We will be holding a membership drive after masses June 24 and 25. Our duties as members of the Altar Society are to clean the church, change linens according to the liturgical calendar, decorate the church for Easter and Christmas, and raise funds for flowers and altar necessities. This is an excellent way to serve Our Lord. Come join us! For more information, please call Norma Alonzo at 802-3233.

DIOCESE OF BROWNSVILLE ANNUAL DIOCESAN APPEAL The ADA is the main source of grant support for Parishes across the Rio Grande Valley providing for the spiritual needs of all Catholics. It is our responsibility to ensure that we (you) have the resources available to help our brothers and sisters in need. The 2017 (ADA) Annual Diocesan Appeal is slated to run through December 31, 2017. The theme for the Appeal is “Faith, Hope & Charity” and videos and envelopes are available upon request. PROTECTING GOD’S PEOPLE As God’s people, we are called to celebrate, promote, and when necessary to defend the life and dignity of every person. We must treat everyone with respect, and do what we can to protect others from harm. Suspected misconduct with minors by lay church personnel should be reported to the pastor of the parish, the principal of the school, or the head of the Catholic institution involved. Suspected misconduct with minors by a priest, deacon, or religious should be reported directly to the Bishop or Vicar General (P. O. Box 2279, Brownsville, TX 78522-2279; 956-542-2501). A form for a Confidential Notice of Concern, may be used, and obtained on request from the local pastor, school principal, institution head, or Diocese, or it may be downloaded from the Brownsville Diocese website (www.cdob.org) Please be aware that it is a state law that anyone who suspects abuse or neglect of a minor must report it to local law enforcement officials or to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services at 1-800-252-5400. Our faith assures us that we will not be overcome by evil but will overcome evil with good (cf. Rm 12:21).
