with 7.5 sacks on the year and has also recorded 34 tackles, includ-

ing two for loss. Hall is also tied for fourth in the NFL with four forced

    fumbles this season.

Two weeks ago at San Francisco, Hall was credited with a sack when

he hit Troy Smith and forced a fumble. In Week 8, he hit Carolinas

DE Chris Long, the second overall

pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, has

played a key role in a Rams defense

that is among the NFLs top 10 in

    sacks, scoring defense and third

    down defense.

Two weeks ago in San Francisco,

Long shared two sacks with LB

James Laurinaitis, giving him 5.5 on

the season and setting a new single-season career high. Prior to last

week, he had at least one sack in four

straight games, and which was the

    longest of his career.

In Week 6 against San Diego, Long turned in his first two-sack per-

formance of the season and his second of his career. For his efforts,

Long was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Long has 5.0 sacks in the last five games. On the season, he leads

the Rams with 14 quarterback hits and 13 pressures.

    LONG ON TALENT

The Rams defense has stood its ground when it counts this sea

as evidenced by the teams defensive statistics in the red zone.

On the season, St. Louis is eighth in the NFL in red zone defe

Opponents have scored touchdowns on just 41.9 percent of t

drives inside the St. Louis 20-yard line. During a four-game str

from Weeks 2-5, the Rams held opponents without a touchdown

five consecutive trips to their red zone. That streak came to an

    in Week 5 at Detroit.

In all, the Rams have given up just 129 points on 32 possession

their opponents inside their 20. The 129 points allowed in the

zone is the eighth fewest in the NFL this season.

RED LIGHT IN THE RED ZONE

S Oshiomogho Atogwe and LB Larry Grant lead a charge to stop Darren McFadden at the goal

line. The Rams are among the leagues best in red zone defense this season.

DE Chris Long drops Philip Rivers.

    DANDY DANNY

WR Danny Amendola continues to have an impact on specteams, but hes become a big part of the offense as well.

Amendola leads the Rams with 60 receptions for 493 yards. Hsixth in the NFL and ranks fourth in the NFC in catches this seas

In his first season on an NFL roster last season, Amendola cau

43 passes for 326 yards in 14 games. Hes already surpassed bototals from a year ago and has added touchdowns in three of his lfour games.

In addition, Amendola is one of the leagues best on third down. 22 receptions on third down are second most in the NFL.

WR/PR Danny Amendola has given the Rams a boost on offense and in the kicking game.

One of the biggest moves the Rams made this offseason was the

acquisition of veteran DT Fred Robbins, and the addition of the 11th

year pro has paid early dividents.

Robbins had a sack and three quarterback hits in the Rams Week 6

win over San Diego. Following the win, teammate Chris Long said

the inside push Robbins provided helped Long enjoy a two-sack day

as well and led to Long being named NFC Defensive Player of the

Week. Four weeks ago, Robbins recovered a fumble and had two

stops in a win over the Seahawks. In his Rams debut, Robbins

recorded three tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack.

The Rams rank ninth in the NFL in run defense and 15th in total yards

allowed, and Coach Steve Spagnuolo recently said that the acquisi-tion of key veterans such as Robbins and LB Nail Diggs has been a

    big factor in the improvement.

On the season, Robbins has 18 total tackles, including three for loss,

eight quarterback hits, two sacks and five passes defensed.

Robbins came to the Rams after six seasons with the New York

Giants. During two of those seasons, current Rams Head Coach

Steve Spagnuolo was the Giants defensive coordinator. Its no coin-

cidence that those two campaigns were perhaps the best of Robbins

career as he tied his career high with 5.5 sacks in each of those sea-

sons and was a Pro Bowl Alternate in 2008. He played a key role in

New Yorks run to their Super Bowl XLII championship.

    WELCOME ABOARD

Rams DT Fred Robbins drops Seattle RB Justin Forsett for a loss. After joining St. Louis as a free

agent this spring, Robbins has made a big impact on a much-improved Rams defense this season.
