22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man

observing his natural face in a mirror;

24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of

man he was.

25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the

work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

  26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue

but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.

27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit

orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the

world.

Luke 6:46-4946 "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man

building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man

who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And 

the ruin of that house was great." 

1 John 2:3-63 Now by this we know that we know 

Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not 

keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps

Jeremiah 31:31-3431 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the 

house of Judah-- 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in

the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My 

covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD.  

33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, 

says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall know Me, from the least of them

to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their 

sin I will remember no more."  

24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of

man he was.

Jeremiah 17:9-109 "The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, 

Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. 

Psalm 144:3-43 LORD, what is man, that You take 

knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him? 4 Man is like 

a breath; His days are like a passing shadow.

Matthew 22:37-4037 Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'  38 This is the first and great commandment. 

39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'  40 On these 

two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

 

Romans 8:1-51 There is therefore now no 

condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the 

flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has

made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God 

did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He 

condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the

righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk 

according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Psalm 34:13-1413 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue 

it. 

Psalm 39:11 I said, "I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth 

with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me."

Psalm 141:3-43 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. 4 Do not 

incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice wicked works With men who work iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.

4. ComplainingTo express dissatisfaction, pain, 

uneasiness, censure, resentment, or grief; find fault

5. JudgingTo infer, think, or hold as an opinion; 

conclude about or assess

Conversion is meaningless unless it leads to a changed life 

A changed life goes nowhere unless it serves others

27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit

orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the

world.

Deuteronomy 14:28-2928 "At the end of every third year you 

shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates. 29 And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and

the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, may come and eat and be satisfied, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the 

work of your hand which you do. 

Isaiah 1:16-1716 "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, 17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.
