Creston Livestock Special Cow-Calf SaleCreston Livestock Auction will be having a special cow-calf sale in conjunction with the Performance Unlimited Bull Sale. There will be a good selection of replacement females - cow-calf pairs, bred females and open yearling heifers.

For consignment information, contact:Tom or Brandon Frey at Creston Livestock Auction at 641-782-7025

Welcome, The Performance Unlimited Bull Sale partners, Beef Resources Partnership, Huth Polled Herefords, and Schu-Lar Herefords would like to welcome all of our past customers and the new customers that are looking at our offering. We once again are proud to present a great set of bulls, great phenotypes with great EPDs. This set of bulls has the genetic value to change the value of your herd. We have gathered the most comprehensive performance data in the industry on this set of young bulls. DNA tested, feed efficiency tested, and performance tested for many generations. We believe that this information can be used to make measurable improvements in your herd.Three herds with the same goals, three management programs with the same philosophy, three programs producing cattle that will add profitability to your operation. We are selling proven genetics that will add weaning weight, carcass weight, percent yield, quality grades and all with calving ease. The production ratios of the dams and maternal EPDs of the bulls in this offering will produce the highest valued females in the industry.

We have all seen the changes in EPDs and the $ Indexes over the last few months. It has changed the rankings of some genetics but with the continued advancement of technology we will see further improvements in the accuracy of genetics evaluations. Using the tools that are available to us has always been a priority for the Performance Unlimited Bull Sale partners. We are willing to share the results that are in the sales catalog and also what our genetics have done for past customers and feeders that have finished them. The AHA created The Hereford Advantage Program a year ago. This program gives the producer the opportunity to add value to their feeder calf program by advertising that the Hereford sires of their calves are in the Top 20% of the breed for the CHB index. 56% bulls in the 2018 Performance Unlimited Bull Sale are in the Top 20%! 31% are in the TOP 10%! In January the AHA announced the Premium Red Baldy program. This program will add value to the great red baldy heifers we are producing. The Hereford sires that qualify for this program must be in the top 50% of the BMI$ index. 87% of the bulls in this catalog qualify to be sires in this program. This is a power packed listing. We continue to be excited and humbled for the chance to work with you as our partners. Each of us will be glad to work with you to match your needs to the right genetic package. The mix of calving ease, tremendous growth, maternal quality, carcass quality, hybrid vigor, along with the great Hereford disposition offer a solution to any issue preventing your next step up in production. We all hope to see you on sale day. We want to share the information that we have gathered and would love to talk to each of you before and on March 28th. You can be assured that we will be there after the sale to help you assess the results in your herd of a Performance Unlimited Bull. Rest assured with a bull that is proven by testing before you buy.

At Schu-Lar Herefords we have spent the last decade collecting individual feed intakes on our bulls. In the last 10 calf crops here is what we have accomplished:

• Feed needed per pound of gain has gone from 7 pounds of dry matter to 5.22 pounds of dry matter per pound of gain. This is a 25% improvement in feed conversion!

• Average Daily Gain (ADG) has increased from 3.6 pounds per day to 4.3 pounds per day. That is a 19% improvement in ADG!

• Days required to gain 600 pounds has been reduced from 167 days to 140 days. Assuming yardage at $0.37 per day this 27 day reduction is worth $9.50 or you have the flexibility to add more pounds with the same number of days on feed!

• Using our last 3 years average ration cost ($177.76/ton)... The cost of putting on 600 pounds of gain has been reduced from $370.78 to $276.73. That is $94.05 reduction in cost!

At Schu-Lar Herefords we’re serious about creating genetics that create profits for our customers!

• D006 is a rather unique bull. He offers an outcross pedigree to most polled programs. His EPD profile shows a tremendous spread from BW to YW. His carcass numbers rank him in the top 2% for MARB, REA, CWT and the CHB$ index. Plus, he has the “bells and whistles”- short marked and fully pigmented. We used this bull in our program and will have a good set of calves by him this spring.

Each animal tested is

recognized with the

AHA GE-EPD logo.

Over the past few years, the American Hereford Association (AHA) has worked with Hereford breeders and the science community to develop and incorporate Genomic information into the Pan American Cattle Evaluation (PACE) to enhance the predictive power of Hereford EPD. Genomic Enhanced EPD (GE-EPD) allows commercial and seedstock producers to make more reliable selections and breeding decisions on younger animals. The current AHA panel was built off of high accuracy animals and today, there are over 30,000 Hereford animals that have been genotyped. With this panel, the accuracy will increase, and this additional information reduces your risk when buying.
