The RWMA booth was prominently located in the AWS Headquarters booth, just before the entrance to the show, very accessible to show attendees. Susan Hopkins, our RWMA Manager, did an outstanding job coordinating the RWMA activities at the Show. Additionally, I appreciate all the help many of our RWMA members volunteered at the RWMA booth, giving their expertise to those who inquired about our industry. We made valuable contacts and were able to enroll several new members. The Emmet A. Craig Resistance Welding School also had a good turnout, with 46 attendees. Thank you to our instructors for their time and efforts toward this endeavor. In addition, RWMA had a great number of tabletop exhibits at the Welding School; and from what I heard from the exhibitors, they were pleased with the interest from the welding school attendees. The 2012 RWMA Membership Directory is going to be available shortly, with a new, clean look. This Directory had more Member Advertisements sold than in any previous year. Thank all those who contributed. As always, I appreciate your continued support of our organization and its promotion of the resistance welding industry. The RWMA's greatest asset is its members! I am confident that our Annual Meeting will provide valuable information for your company. Come take advantage of our keynote speaker and Economist, Alan Beaulieu. I look forward to seeing you there! John Waldron Retires from Banner After 52 years, John Waldron has retired from Banner Welder. His invaluable wealth of knowledge concerning Banner’s products, markets and technologies will be sorely missed. However, John will be available for consultation and assistance as needed for a period of time. John joined Banner on October 1, 1959. His 52 plus years of service to the company exceeds the age of almost 40% of their currently active employees.

In his early days at Banner, he was one of the original “road warriors,” being required to travel for every machine that required installation and start-up. John was very successful in the Engineering Department, becoming Chief Engineer in 1992, and in 1994, he was promoted to head up the newly created Standards Division. This new direction was intended to maximize this growth segment of Banners business. John was charged with “re-engineering and updating the machines as well as developing an extensive marketing and distribution network.” He was additionally charged with “developing an R & D testing area to prove out welding principles and test customers welding processes.” On June 18, 1997, John was elected President of the company. John is well known for his love of old cars, professional football (Packers, of course), and, under the expert tutelage and direction of his wife Elizabeth, his role as a “gentleman gardener.” But he will be best remembered at Banner for his leadership – leadership through rough financial times, and leadership through the economic ups and downs inherent in our markets. John took over the helm at a very difficult time, and his quiet, focused, no-nonsense style of leadership, along with the continued support of David Uhlein, resulted in Banner’s survival, and subsequently the building of the business into the strong position it currently enjoys. John will now be able to spend quality time enjoying family time with his wife and six children during this new stage of his life. We all wish him well. Congratulations Kevin Chan, VP, Technical Services at Huys Welding Strategies

Huys Welding Strategies is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Chan to Vice President, Technical Services. Since completing his Masters of Science in Welding at the University of Waterloo in 2005, Kevin has worked at Huys on innovative technologies including adaptive welding control and resistance welding simulation software. He will continue to help customers and to advance resistance welding. Well done Kevin!

Huys Industries Promotes Dan Mazerolle, Vice President, Sales Congratulations to Dan Mazerolle on his promotion to Vice President, Sales at Huys Industries. Dan, who initially qualified as a machinist, has found that his customers were calling upon his skills more and more to design and improve fixtures and consumables. With 27 years in the resistance welding business, Dan's “hands on” dedication to customer service has paid off. Congratulations Dan!

Congratulations to Don Dewey, Janda’s New General Manager Janda Company, Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of Don Dewey, to the position of General Manager. It was 1990 when Don began his employment at Janda, in the general labor pool. Recognizing Don’s previous sales experience and talents, Don divided his time between plant-work, and outside-sales calls to Janda’s clients, and-or, perspective clients. In-fact, many of the accounts that Janda has the privilege of serving yet today, were initially introduced through Don’s outside sales efforts. As the years rolled by, and with Janda’s intensified appreciation of Don’s intrinsic mechanical abilities, Don matured to the position of Machinery Supervisor. As General Manager, in addition to overseeing all plant operations, Don will continually convey his acquired knowledge and machine building skills for Janda’s entire line of Resistance Welding equipment and manufacturing procedures to the employees in his charge. Under Don’s leadership, Janda foresees continued production and quality advances, with even further sensitivity toward customer service. Forever an exemplary employee, Don is a perfect model for his coworkers. “We are thrilled that Don has stepped-up to his new leadership position, and confident in his abilities for Janda’s continuous improvement.” T.J. Snow Company Has A New Home

After 39 years at its former location, the T. J. Snow Company recently moved its offices and production operations to a 52,000 square foot building that was extensively refurbished and modified for its needs.

Located on 12 acres adjacent to the Chattanooga Airport, the climate-controlled single-level facility has dramatically improved the company's efficiencies, since all 68 employees now work under one roof.

In addition, the company's pilots can now walk to the hanger where the airplane used for service and sales trips is stored.

Previously, the business was housed in five adjacent buildings at a nearby corporate campus.

Until a new crane-equipped high bay building is constructed behind the new facility, the company's inventory of approximately 400 used resistance welders will remain stored at the former location.

The T. J. Snow Company's new street address is 120 Nowlin Lane, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

The mailing address remains the same as before: P. O. Box 22847, Chattanooga, TN 37422.

For further information, please contact Tom Snow, CEO, T. J. Snow Co., 423-308-3165.

FABTECH 2011 held at Chicago’s McCormick Place was a huge success with 523,740 net square feet of exhibit space sold in total. The Show saw 1,360 exhibitors and had over 35,457 attendees on its floor, which is a 35% increase over 2009 — the last time FABTECH was held in Chicago. Of that total, 520 of the exhibitors were on the Welding side, utilizing 169,130 net square feet. This shattered all records of previous shows, with the buyers walking the floor, educational conference attendance and overall square footage of exhibit space. It looks like FABTECH 2012 is also going to be a big hit. Exhibitors have been reserving their booths daily. It will be held in Las Vega, Nevada, on November 12, 13, and 14 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. FABTECH will return to McCormick Place in 2013. For more information, visit www.fabtechexpo.com.
