e DITION WEDNESDAY May 1, 2019 Q: Is there any way the cafeteria could serve more vegan/ vegetarian-friendly options? A: We do strive to offer menus options to fit a variety of dietary preferences. We continue to have more vegetarian items available, but vegan items are a bit more challenging as they are not always popular choices among our customers overall. We would love your specific feedback on items we have had that you’d like us to continue or suggestions for items to add to our rotation. Please feel free to email me directly with your input. Lisa Kremer, Nutrition & Dining Q: Is it possible for the hospital to gain an additional lactation room? With only one room available it is difficult to find time to leave the floor when the room is not in use. A: Yes, there are now two or three lactation rooms available and one more slated to be added in future renovations. Q: Can you update us on any progress with reviewing the PTO accrual for newer employees? There have been seven holidays in the last five months, leaving me with only 3 days to use for myself over a 5-month timespan. I was not made aware of ‘cost savings holidays’ during my interview which have really affected my PTO. Also, the lower accrual rate of PTO during these times isn’t helpful, either. Please update us on the progress of this policy.A: The UPH system is looking at standardizing PTO and PTO accruals across all its entities. With that review there will be a review of the program and ideas like the one that you are posing here. More information to come.Steve Sesterhenn, HR
