With formal kimono, it is common to wear two (or sometimes more) layers of traditional underwear.

2) Second layer protects the kimono from sweat and provides warmth in winter.

3) Nagajuban is worn over hadajuban. Conceals the body shape and make kimono look smooth when worn, and add little bit softness to the look of kimono.
