Starting out in 2005 as a very small wedding invitation and stationery company, I Will Invitations has vastly expanded and now offers a huge range of wedding stationery products compared to many other invitation houses in Australia and indeed, internationally too.

“We’ve always believed that the invitation stylist must deliver exemplary service. We offer a greater range of accessories than many other companies because we want to fit in to our client’s dreams, not have them feel compromised to fit a company’s limited ideas”, says head stylist Gayle Williams.

“We offer everything from invitations in many formats and accessories to coordinating that look with buffet styling and if we don’t have it, we are able to custom design to your requirements.”

It was this thinking that won I Will Invitations the highly

acclaimed Best Service award and a finalist position in the Design category for the Australasian Mumpreneur Awards recently.

“I’m so proud of where we’ve come from. Initially a small online wedding boutique, we’ve now got printables and children’s events covered as well as markets on etsy and a huge gathering on Pinterest and Facebook. It’s so gratifying to see that so many of our clients on these social media channels are returning customers too. They grow with us from their engagement invitations to their wedding stationery and now we get them as return clients for baby and child events, or even for their own milestone birthdays. That is the most wonderful thing – to know that your clients have such loyalty and to get to know them during their most important life celebrations. You couldn’t ask for a more fulfilling job!”

Place card & Gift tag design

27 | Wedding Invitation Inspiration

Place card design and style can vary from wedding to wedding. Some Brides prefer to have the standard folded place card design where others prefer to combine the place card as either a gift tag/place card or

have something custom made such as a photo booth pocket/place card. The choice is totally yours but whatever style you choose, they should match your invitation suite. It is custom

for each guest to be given a place card, however, if you are using gift tags as a place card and only giving one gift per couple, then address the tag as Mr & Mrs Smith or John & Maree for example.

1. When did you open for business?

We started Paper Dolls in August 2010 at that stage we both had babies under six months so it was a slow and interesting start juggling motherhood and business.

2. How did you come up with your business name?

We wanted to include the word paper as everything we made was going to be made from paper and over a cup of tea one afternoon we came up with ‘Paper Dolls’.Unfortunately the web domain paperdolls.com was taken (didn’t think to check that first!) so having already become attached to the name we added a tag’ – the lost art’ to distinguish ourselves. Our philosophy for our work was to highlight those lost arts of crafting and crotchet and even the simple joy of receiving a paper invitation rather than a text or email so it was a perfect fit.

3. What is your design style?

It’s as eclectic as our couples due to all our work being bespoke so we can range from rustic to classically elegant.

4. What inspires you?

Old treasured items, childhood memories, fashion/homewares, gorgeous materials and unique prints.

5. What is the best part of your job?

That’s an easy one seeing a bride’s face when she comes and picks up their invites or second best ( as most of our work is done via email) receiving a personal thank you email or message from our brides just can help but bring a smile to your face :)

Business Profile

1. When did you open for business?

Alannah Rose was launched in October 2005. We’ve just turned 8, where did that time go??

2. How did you come up with your business name?

Alannah Rose was named after my first daughter. She was 5 months old when I started the business. I now have two daughters, their laughter, love and sense of humor inspires me every day.

3. What is your design style?

We offer a few different styles on site. I’m very conscious that our designs are balanced and the typography is right. We offer anything from classic and sim-ple through to modern and bold. We pay attention to detail and each invite is checked thoroughly before being sent to our clients.

4. What inspires you?

I’m a visual person so everything around me can form part of my inspiration. A walk to the shops and all the visual merch displays, a colour of a flower in a garden or a flip through an interiors book can get the design ideas flowing.

5. What is the best part of your job?

Working with such gorgeous clients planning such happy events! There’s so much excitement when it comes to wed-ding planning. Often the invitations are the first ‘big thing’ that our couples have arrive, so it makes the wedding seem more real. We love getting emails telling us they love our work :) - and we love seeing photos of how the big day turned out.

1. When did you open for business?

Year 2000 - as an Internet business

2. How did you come up with your business name?

Originally making Babyographies - details of new babies, where and where born, name origins, family members, other events on the same day etc.. Hence “Archives” We made the move to wedding invitations by clients who knew our work requesting invitations.

3. What is your design style?

All our work is hand-made, with an eye to details proba-bly “elegant” is the best way to describe what we do.

4. What inspires you?

Anything visual really - photos, nature, colours.... we have a good look at our designs about every 6 months. Some are altered, others are deleted, new are added.

5. What is the best part of your job?

Best thing is definitely positive feedback from our clients.

1. When did you open for business?

August 2003. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary last year.

2. How did you come up with your business name?

Mariana, partner and chief designer, is from Argentina, home of the Tango, so it was kind of an obvious choice.

3. What is your design style?

I’d have to say modern romantic. We like to take advantage of the materials and tools that are available today, to create invitations that are elegant, sophisticated, even decadent, yet affordable for most people. We like our invitations to be things of beauty, somewhat classical in their design elements, but using modern materials and techniques that would not have been possible, or at least would have been very expensive in years gone by. We’re not really into cartoons or brash or garish designs that hit you in the face, so to speak.

4. What inspires you?

Being one of the innovators in this industry. The opportunity to create something beautiful from some very basic materials. We love a challenge and have been able to come up with some unique designs that others have yet to be able to copy.

5. What is the best part of your job?

Getting all the wonderful, positive feedback from our lovely brides on the comments they received about their invitations and stationery. Occasionally we get a bottle of wine, some chocolates or some flowers too!

1. When did you open for business?

Cristina Re Designs has been officially open for business since 1997.

2. How did you come up with your business name?

My business name is my own name. In the beginning I had a strong desire to be recognized as an artist and personality. I new that the advantage in doing so is that the public feels a connection with the brand and the person behind the brand. As a result I have been able to build a strong profile through my marketing and publicity.

The disadvantage is that sometimes I feel too close to the product and business and take it very personally and emotionally when I receive challenges or feedback that I may not want to hear. Luckily I have a very big following of fans and great respect for my work so it’s always been positive to be recognized as the woman behind the brand. I guess you could say that the attachment pushes me to strive for more.

3. What is your design style?

My style is feminine, colourful, with a blend of old and new. I love collecting everything vintage, as I have an appreciation for fine design and workmanship of the past. As I have an Italian background, I also appreciate European art and culture which inspires my personal design style.

4. What inspires you?

I draw my inspiration from my travels around the world, including Rome (I was born in Rome and lived and studied in Italy for a number of years), Paris and Asia. However I am mostly inspired by nature, and by the flora and fauna of Australia. I love working with floral themes the most when I illustrate, so you could say that I am influenced by the glorious formations and colours of the assortment of beautiful flowers that grow plentifully in Australia.

I follow fashion and am also a big fan of beautiful interior design. Living in Melbourne has also influenced my choice in colour when it comes to designing corporate and wedding stationery. Melbournians are big on black and white and neutral colours, so I always ensure that I tailor for this market when it comes to creating my stationery and paper collections.

5. What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is that I have the ability to express myself creatively every day. There have also been many exciting moments in my business life, but I would have to say that appearing and presenting on a few TV shows, including the 9am Morning Show, Coxi’s Big Break and Postcards were very exciting and

memorable experiences for me.

Table seating planTable seating plans are a beneficial part to any wedding, they help your guests easily find their seat and settle in for a lovely evening ahead. Little do your guests know the stress and possibly tears that have gone into creating it!By rule, your table seating plan is generally made last, after you have received all of your RSVP’s back and you know who is attending.Creating your table plan can be rather tedious, and it’s not really something you can delegate to a Bridesmaid or anyone else! So, here are some tips on getting through the process with ease.

1. Create a mock upWorking on a standard round 8 person table, label each table with a number, write your guests name on a piece of paper and create groups of 8 you think would work well. Keep in mind your parents will want to be up close to the bridal table, as well as siblings and close friends and family. Basically work from the front to the back of the room. (See template)

2. Don’t over think it At the most your guests will be seated for around an hour and a half, unless you are planning a 6 course meal that is!As long as they are sitting with someone they like and not people they can’t stand, it will be fine. After meals most people go and mingle with others, hit the dance floor and barely sit down anyway.

3. Assigning tables only and not seatsAssigning your guest to a table only and not a specific seat is totally fine. Your guests will arrange themselves where they want to so its not necessary to go this extra step unless you need to.The only real need for place cards is if you are having multiple meals with multiple choices, this aids the wait staff when serving the meals.
