About Us The Butler Did It Catering Co. was founded over 23 years ago by three young entrepreneurs (Darryl, Erin, and Jamie) who had strong values and ideas of what a catering business should be. Over the past two decades The Butler Did It Catering has grown to become one of the largest and most successful catering companies in the Lower Mainland, in part because of these values.
Our menus are created with fresh, local ingredients and inspired by West Coast flavours. Looking for something a little different? We are happy to work with you to create a custom menu to suit your tastes, budget, and dietary restrictions. We are able to accommodate guests who are vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, gluten free, and most allergies.
We are a full service catering company. But what does that mean? It means that we have the experience and resources to cater a wide variety of events and offer many additional services (i.e. staffing, bar service, china & furniture rentals, décor, event management) to be your one-stop-shop for all your catering and event planning needs.

Food Service Styles BUFFET Food is arranged on long tables in chafing dishes and platters. Table by table guests get up from their seats, walk over to the buffet, serve themselves, and then take their plate back to their seat. Buffet style allows for guests to pick and choose what they would like to eat instead of having a predetermined meal. Guest tables are only set with cutlery and glassware as guests get their plates at the beginning of the buffet. When choosing a buffet style dinner it is best to have a pre-planned order for the tables to go up to the buffet in.
PLATED DINNER Also known as a seated dinner, a plated dinner is the more traditional and formal wedding dinner style. Every guest is seated, usually at an assigned table, and the meal is served one course at a time by service staff. Typical plated dinners are 3 to 4 courses, but more extravagant dinners can be 5 or more.
FAMILY STYLE Family Style dinner is the middle ground between a buffet and a plated dinner. Guests are seated at their tables (like a plated dinner) and the service staff bring large platters, in courses, to each table for guests to pass around and serve themselves choosing what they would like (like a buffet). It’s just like sitting down for dinner at home with your family!
COCKTAIL DINNER/ STANDING DINNER A Cocktail Dinner is a standing dinner with a combination of food stations and service staff passing canapés. Typically there are no guest tables at Cocktail Dinners, instead there are high-top tables where guests can put a plate down to eat and converse. Guests eat over a longer period of time than any other dinner style, and the food is all bite-sized so it can be eaten with minimal cutlery.
BARBEQUE Barbeque dinners are the most casual wedding dinner style. Our service staff bring a BBQ with them to your venue and grill all the proteins and sides on-site. The food is then presented on a buffet for the dinner service. Barbeque dinners are best suited for backyard weddings, park or beach weddings, or any wedding where the couple is looking for a more laid-back or causal vibe.

Bar Types & Services The Butler Did It Catering Co. is a fully licensed caterer with the ability to provide all you need for a fabulous bar experience. We can provide bar rentals, bartenders, ice, beer, wine, sparkling wine, custom cocktails, bar mix, and obtain a special event liquor license.
Types of Bars
HOST BAR/OPEN BAR A host bar is also known as an open bar, which means the drinks have been paid for by the host (bride & groom) and the guests are welcome to drink as much as they please.
CASH BAR A bar where guests purchase their drinks. A cash bar often requires additional service staff as ticket sellers and sometimes can have sales minimums.
TICKETED BAR A ticketed bar is a happy medium between a host bar and a cash bar. The host (bride & groom) purchase a number of drinks per guest in advance and each guest is given that number of tickets upon arrival to redeem for drinks. Once their tickets run out, the guests then must purchase their own drink tickets.
TWOONIE BAR Another option that is a happy medium between a host bar and a cash bar. To help cover the bar costs, guests purchase drinks for $2 and the host (bride & groom) cover the remaining balance.
Our Bar Services
BUTLER PROVIDED BAR The Butler Did It Catering provides a fully stocked bar for your wedding reception, complete with beer, wine, cocktails, signature cocktail, bartenders, liquor license, ice, bar mix & garnish, and glassware. We will take care of all the bar service and arrangements so you don’t have to worry about it.
CLIENT PROVIDED BAR The Butler Did It Catering only provides bartenders who will set-up and serve the alcohol the bride and groom have purchased. We do not charge a corkage fee for this service. However, the bride and groom are responsible for ice, bar mix & garnish, delivering & picking up of the alcohol to and from the venue, liquor license, and glassware. We do have bar mix & garnish packages available, please inquire with our event coordinators.
