Shelby Tidwell,Dogwood Veterinary Hospital and Laser Center

Shelby was a world traveler before she even finished high school, living in Florida, California, Hong Kong, New York, Georgia and Texas. She finished school at Ronkonkoma High School in Bohemia, New York and returned to the South to attend the University of West Georgia, graduating with a degree in Sociology (social psychology concentration) and a minor

in criminology. She completed her degree while working and being a single mother.

After college, Shelby entered the airline business, working for ASA and then Delta. When she was furloughed by Delta, she worked as a police officer for a year before being recalled by Delta. She served on the Employee Involvement Group (EIG) and in Scheduling.

She served as a purser for several years and participated in many projects with the EIG. She served in management for several years before taking an early retirement package and beginning a new career at Dogwood Veterinary Hospital and Laser Center in August 2015.

One month later, she had an offer to work with the TSA. Shelby says she tried it for a week and decided to return to Dogwood, where she serves as Practice Manager.

She is looking forward to the Leadership Coweta program and expects to experience “community involvement, educational experiences and networking possibilities that don’t come from just sitting at a desk.” She also said, “I hope to become aware of the community as a whole and how Dogwood can contribute on a larger scale.”
