ENFIELD CHACE HUNT BRANCH OF THE PONY CLUB Autumn NEWSLETTER 2014 Dear Member, Parents and guardians Where has the summer gone….?As I look back on my first year as D.C. of Enfield Chace I see many achievements for us as a club. Firstly at a time when most clubs are shrinking we have managed to grow significantly, a trend I hope will continue. Please keep encouraging your friends to come and join us, we are happy to invite people for one trial session so that they can decide if they wish to join us. Remember by joining now they get 14 months membership for the price of 12. Camp was of course a huge success and was our biggest and best camp to date. If you haven’t already seen it have a look at Chiltern and Thames Rider September issue where there is a full page dedicated to the Enfield Chace Camp. Other successes include; representation at Area competitions in Dressage Jumping and Eventing, and of course the highlight for me …our return to Gosling Cup where after a 9 year absence, our teams made a respectable return to this important area competition. We have also managed to hold a series of pony club certificate tests, this is an on-going schedule with tests and training forming the backbone of our rallies and training clinics. Next year we hope to hold a B test training camp as well as our regular camp. As a club we now offer our members; Dressage, jumping, eventing, polo, racing, driving, shooting, mounted games, and horseball…What lucky children. Looking forward we need to spread the word about Enfield Chace, and raise funds to buy our members more equipment and fund better training, with this in mind we plan to hold a Dengie Dressage Qualifier in November and an Open Show next July, please support these events and help us make them successful Finally, a big thank you to all for making this such a fun club to be a part of. Firstly at a time when most clubs are shrinking we have managed to grow significantly, a trend I hope will continue. Please keep encouraging your friends to come and join us, we are happy to invite people for one trial session so that they can decide if they wish to join us. Katie Reid, 4th at the world junior Driving Championships

Katie had her first experience at an

international competition on the 13th/14th Sept, she had been long listed for the England team as a junior but was then offered the chance to compete for new

Zealand as their juniors are not given the experience the selectors thought would be

necessary to drive strange ponies in an exciting atmosphere on the other side of the

world!!! So Katie was adopted by NZ.As it was Katie did the team proud by

finishing 4th in the junior sec. The juniors were driving to an optimum time of 100sec

any time less or over was added as penalties and it was the best two scores out of three

rounds added together. Katie’s best two rounds were 105.74 and 100.4 seconds however in the final and best round she

knocked the last cone so had an additional 5penalties so ended with a score of 10.78 the winning junior had a score of 6.42 so if Katie hadn't had the very costly 5pens she would have been junior champ!!. It’s all the more

amazing when you remember just how much she has done with spotty the real all round

pony.

A Few Boring Notes:Can we please remind you of the usual request re DOGS. If dogs have to come with you to Pony Club events (and we strongly advise you to

leave them at home if you can) they must be left inside vehicles or tied up (very short) to your vehicle outside if it is hot. It is not fair to expect our hosts or other members to put up with boisterous hounds or their mess!

Venues for all fixtures are subject to change/confirmation as weather and ground conditions are always a major factor. Please check with the person organising the event if in doubt.

Practices for most disciplines are taking place. If you would like to join in please contact the following Committee members (telephone numbers on page: 1)

Branch Merchandise - Whilst we have a few items of stock left at discount price, new items can be ordered directly from www.gggear.co.uk. Other Pony club merchandise can be bought from the official Pony Club website.

Please don’t forget to let Katrina Midgley know if you have a change of address so that we can keep in touch

Note for Parents:When you bring your child to Pony Club activities you should not go away and leave them unattended. Parents of children under 8 must be there all the time. Older children should only be left in cases of necessity. Under these circumstances please ensure that you nominate and agree with another parent to be in charge of your child during your absence. Also we are indebted to a great number of people for the use of their training facilities, so out of courtesy and respect please ensure that you clear any mess you have made in the parking areas before you leave.

Just a Reminder about Dress Code for Practises: For all pony club events other than competitions or rallies, you are required to wear a branch sweatshirt (or plain dark sweatshirt) with a collared shirt or polo shirt under. Beige/light jodhpurs and jodhpur boots. Body protectors must be worn when jumping. If you have any doubts please contact a committee member for clarification.
