Schoolyard Renovations

Current Schoolyard:

8

Proposed Plan:

9

Everyone will be asked to help fundraise for this.

Funding: The needs of the school come first. Once Ms. Overton gets her budget in March and we see what the auction brings in, then we can figure out fundraising needs for the schoolyard. SSAs, books, and the like take priority. The grants committee is feverishly looking into grants. We’re seeking corporate donations. If it comes to it, we can sell personalized pavers. We can pull in alumni and former teachers.

We would really like to complete this this summer. The issue will be can we do a fast capital campaign to have the funds to pull it off? School district has already told us they will OK the project if we have the funds.

Possible expansion – although expanding Meredith building would be helpful, it will be behind other repairs for other schools (billions of dollars worth) in other SDP schools. That said, an architect came out to look at parking lot – would maybe have an early childhood center for K-1st with a parking lot beneath. Realistically, that would happen 4-5 years from now. We could also look elsewhere for real estate.

10

Price is $200,000, which for a capital improvement is not a lot. Work will begin the day after school lets out for the auction.
