I thought about calling him, but Assumed that because of his lack of Ability he had decided to pursue something else. I was also glad that he had stopped coming. He was a Bad Advertisement for my Teaching! Several Weeks later I mailed a flyer recital to the Students' homes. To my surprise, Robby (who had received a flyer) asked if he could be in the Recital. I told him that the Recital was for current Pupils and that because he had dropped out, he really did not Qualify.

PENSIONERS EMAILS & FEEDBACK from 1st OCTOBER, 2017 :SERIES No 157 & 158

1) So beautiful. cannot resist not to share.

TRUE STORY...PLEASE DO NOT DELETE, RETURN IF YOU CAN'T FORWARD TO AT LEAST ONE PERSON!!!

At the prodding of my friends I am writing this story.  My name is Mildred Honor. I am a former elementary school Music Teacher from Des Moines, Iowa.

I have always supplemented my income by Teaching Piano Lessons...Something I have done for over 30 years. During those years, I found that Children have many levels of musical ability, and even though I have never had the prodigy, I have taught some very talented students. However, I have also had my share of what I call 'Musically Challenged Pupils.

One such Pupil being Robby. Robby was 11 years old when his Mother (a Single Mom) dropped him off for his first Piano Lesson.

I prefer that Students (especially Boys) begin at  an earlier age, which I explained to Robby.  But Robby said that it had always been his Mother's Dream to hear him play the Piano, so I took him as a Student.

At the end of each weekly Lesson he would always say 'My Mom's going to hear me Play someday.'  But to me, it seemed hopeless, he just did not have any Inborn Ability.I only knew his Mother from a distance as she dropped Robby off or waited in her aged Car to pick him up.  She always waved and smiled, but never dropped in;

Then one day Robby stopped coming for his Lessons.

He told me that his Mother had been Sick and Unable to take him to his piano lessons, but that he had been practicing.  'Please Miss Honor, I've just got to Play,' he insisted. I don't know what led me to allow him to play in the Recital - perhaps it was his insistence or maybe something inside of me saying that it would be all right;

The night of the Recital came and the high school gymnasium was packed with Parents, Relatives and Friends. I put Robby last in the Program, just before I was to come up and thank all the Students and Play a finishing piece. I thought that any damage he might do would come at the end of the Program and I could always salvage his poor performance through my 'Curtain Closer'.

Well, the Recital went off without a Hitch, the Students had been Practicing and it Showed. Then Robby came up on the stage. His Clothes were Wrinkled and his Hair looked as though he had run an egg beater through it. 'Why wasn't he dressed up like the other Students?' I thought. 'Why didn't his Mother at least make him Comb his Hair for this Special Night?'

Page 2: Web view01/10/2017 · when Sound of crackers & Flowerpots,Vishnu Chakra ... whole body pain & a general ... Time and again it was repeatedly advised by Sri. R.B. Kishore,to

Robby pulled out the Piano bench, and I was Surprised when he announced that he had chosen to play Mozart's Concerto No.21 in C Major.  I was not prepared for what I heard next.  His fingers were light on the keys, they even danced nimbly on the Ivories.  He went from Pianissimo to Fortissimo, from Allegro to Virtuoso; his Suspended Chords that Mozart demands were Magnificent!  Never had I heard Mozart played so well by anyone his age.

After six and a half minutes, he ended in a Grand Crescendo, and everyone was on their feet in Wild Applause!!! Overcome and in Tears, I ran up on stage and put my arms around Robby in Joy;

'I have never heard you Play like that Robby, how did you do it?'  Through the Microphone Robby explained: 'Well, Miss Honor, Remember I told you that my Mom was sick?  Well, she actually had Cancer and Passed Away this Morning. And well... she was  Born Deaf, so tonight was the first time she had ever heard me Play, and I wanted to make it Special.,

There wasn't a Dry Eye in the house that evening.  As People from Social Services led Robby from the stage to be placed in to Foster Care, I noticed that even their Eyes were red and Puffy.  I thought to myself then how much Richer my Life had been for taking Robby as my Pupil.

No, I have never had a Prodigy, but that night I became a Prodigy... of Robby. He was the Teacher and I was the Pupil, for he had taught me the meaning of Perseverance and Love and Believing in Yourself, and may be even taking a chance on someone and you didn't know why.

Robby was Killed years later in the Senseless Bombing of the Alfred P. Murray Federal Building in Oklahoma City in April, 1995.

2 ii)About 430 pensioners attended the Founders Day meeting, as part of 61st Anniversary Celebrations at TNagar, Chennai. After Nigam Geeth & Welcome Address by SDM LIC DO1,RMMktg SZ gave an useful PP Presentation on NEW BUSINESS,All India & SZ spectacular performance last year& an unassailable leading position as at 30/9/2017 . This was followed by a talk & presentation on Corporate Iinitiatives by RM CC,SZ with PP slides. Then there was a speech by ZM Sri R.Thamodharan on shape of things to come in insurance,allied matters & Top Management futuristic thinking on critical issues.

ZM with his team came down from dais,shook hands with former EDs,honoured them with shawls.

All Founders/Pensioners were received with customary smile & zeal at entrance & a memento & file was handed over ,after signing their presence.File contained i)LIC s Investments during 5 Year Plan periods ,from II 5-Year plan 1956—61Rs184cr,VII 5 Year plan 1985-1990 , Rs 12,969cr, XII th 5 year plan staggering Rs 14,23,055 cr ,Brochure contained Market share as on 31/8/2017 in Group

Other Pamphlet was Plan 189 Jeevan Akshay VI Option F

Last Pamphlet was LIC CO 23 September 2017 Circular containing details of new offer for increased Group Mediclaim Cover with Option Form attached for increased Family Floater cover

After Lunch, we came home. I IMMEDIATELY wanted to give a ring to ZM, AO ZM Sect told me he had already left for tour.I contacted RM Mktg he came on the line.I told him it was improper that ZM & Organisers did not care to have some Pensioners speak on green memories ,reminiscences & pensioners issues needing intervention by Policy makers with empathy & easily 45 mts could have been allotted to share & care. I told RMMktg that earlier 2 days, speaking to both SDM LIC DO 1 & SDM LIC 2 , I conveyed good practices when reasonable time was spent in 2014 & 2015 too when pensioners recalled their productive association with LIC , & it was regrettable when ample time was there ,this was not done.

19) Krishnadas Rajagopal ,New Delhi.

  A former Madras High Court judge has approached the Supreme Court for implementation of the ‘ One Rank, One Pension ‘ norm for retired High Court judges, saying there is disparity in the pension paid to those appointed from the Bar and those promoted from the subordinate judiciary. Retired Madras High Court judge, Justice M. Vijayaraghavan, has sought a direction from the Court to the Centre to evolve a formula ” to obviate the disparities in the pension payable to judges drawn from subordinate judiciary and the judges drawn from the Bar in tune with ” One Rank, One Pension ” norms laid down by the Supreme Court in the 2014 judgment in Ramakrishnam Raju’s case.”

The petition quotes the 2014 judgment, observing that ” when persons holding constitutional office retire from service, making discrimination in the fixation of the pensions depending upon the source from which they were appointed is in breach of Article 14 and 16(1) of the Constitution of India. One Rank, One Pension must be the norm in respect of a constitutional office.” ……….. ( Chennai City edition of The Hindu, Tuesday, October 17, 2017 ) Courtesy : -----MPSubramanian

20) Dear Sri. Angurajan,  I can understand your feelings. Time and again it was repeatedly advised by Sri. R.B. Kishore,to refer to our official website to get every one updated with latest developments in all walks of life

Page 8: Web view01/10/2017 · when Sound of crackers & Flowerpots,Vishnu Chakra ... whole body pain & a general ... Time and again it was repeatedly advised by Sri. R.B. Kishore,to

concerning pensioners. None, but a few elite groups, takes it seriously. We should admit that it is the general nature of human beings. Despite all these drawbacks and his own untold physical ailments, Sri. RBK never tired of conveying what all comes to his knowledge to our brethren whether they acknowledge it or not. I suppose,they give enormous importance to  news about money disbursements only and not on all other relevant matters. We should digest this fact. Elders have advised about doing one's own karma without expecting any result in return. Let us follow the golden principles of Sri. RBK.

With best wishes----------M.P.Subrahmanian.

21) Most disappointing. Many comments may be passed for this sitution including our disinterest, advocate   Indifference or his absorption of the case for proper presentation or the GOI influence over the issue. Blaming LIC officials is not correct. There is a provision for making advance  application for presenting the case by our Rep. which would have gone without any comments or atleast we could have saved on our funds for future useful expenses. I am physically unfit even for appearence. Hence I pray spend your time and money usefully. Excuse me for my comments. Anyway we are going to get our dues either as directed by the lower courts or ordained by the SC as soon as Modi settles down financially  - tvr

[Earlier hearing at DHC also,our Counsels demanded MENTION to realize urgency of the cases,delay already plenty & so Daily hearing;that was acceded.

Now in SC also,our Advocate made fervent plea ,also of IR on DR & Pension upgradation,as LIC Advocate wanted time to file a reply ---RBKISHORE,VP,AIRIEF }

22)Dear pensioner colleagues, Namaskar.   Hope, the recent festivals could have reinforced some fresh energetic blood into each and every one of us. Thanks to those festive occasions for having given us a brief-break to our years longunfulfilled ambitions and aspirations. Majority of us  could have felt short of funds in celebrating these functions with a little more ease,mirth and gaiety along with our family members. But spring comesonly after autumn. So, the reverse trends of the present day stiff resistance & tyrannies are approaching  fast. Let us wait for a few more days.

   The recent deliberations in the recent meeting of Zonal Councils at Mysuru give us hopes that our renewed plans and efforts towards legal battle at Supreme Court would certainly yield the desired results. The exhaustive report of our General Secretary, Sri. G.Krishnaswamy, about Zonal Councils meeting at Mysuru shows a fresh path of war against the bureaucracy with added quote of case-laws and decisions. He has taken much pains in preparing a " Note " to guide Zonal Councils andDivisional Associations as to how to function effectively. He has brought out  a model  " Form of Application " for new entrants.

   It is learnt that Sri. M.P.Agnihotri,Covenor Legal Committee & leading member in the Legal Team, addressed the delegates at Mysuru with details of the recent arguments in the Supreme Court, our Sr.Counsels guidance and how SC has directed LIC to file their reply to our SLP within the time frame of 3 weeks,which they prayed for. It was informed that the gathering heard the reporting of Sri.Agnihotri more than an hour amid pin-drop silence and the house was satisfied

Page 9: Web view01/10/2017 · when Sound of crackers & Flowerpots,Vishnu Chakra ... whole body pain & a general ... Time and again it was repeatedly advised by Sri. R.B. Kishore,to

with the present plans and strategies contemplated. Words fail to praise the sacrifices and service rendered by our active leaders,particularly our President Sri. S.S.Saxena, Vice Presidents  M/s R.B.Kishore, Pramod Bhatnagar, G.T.Parikh, General Secretary Sri.G.Krishnaswamy, Sri. M.P.Agnihotri , Sri. D.D.Gupta, Sri. Ranjan Dey Sarkar ) and some other assisting activists, in shouldering and exhibiting their responsibilities for a common cause. The full backup support extended to the team with instant calculations by Sri. R.K.Sahni is note-worthy.   It is also understood that our present SLP has been prepared cautiously, diligently, in a novel way, with the sole aim of convincing the Judiciary and exposing the gimmick figures presented tothe Court to deny us the justice. Poor Management ! Time has come to wind-up their foul & unethical attempts.   The high-drama in SC is to commence from 10th January, 2018. Our legal team under the leadership of our new veteran Sr.Counsel Sri. K.T.S.Tulsi is fully prepared to submit our fitting rejoinder, onceLIC files its reply to our SLP.

Let us be assured that better days are ahead and they would dawn shortly. In the meantime, please get in touch with our Divisional Secretaries and our Official AIRIEF Website and keep yourself updatedwith latest developments. It would benefit us more if we start interacting with our colleagues then and there.

23)Dear Shri MPS Sir, Pranams to you in  thousands and crores. Your ever vigilant eye has caught the gist of our Mysuru meeting and presented it in an extremely pleasant presentable way.

Our Circular no 28 to be released next week will contain some deliberations that took place in the ZC meetings of SZ and SCZ presided over our worthy Kishore and Rajagopal respectively. FOR THE FIRST TIME, our all India President, Shri Saxena was present in the meetings not presided by him - Inauguration, SZ mtg and then SCZ mtg - This is very unique, isn't it?  All the OBs of AIRIEF were united in their participation

27) Shri Kishore, Thanks for considering my suggestion. perhaps you may draw attention to the very apt remark of the 5th CPC in para 127.6 of its report as under"

"  It needs to be averred emphatically that  pension is not in the nature of alms being doled out to beggars. The senior citizens need to be treated with dignity and courtesy befitting their age. Pension is their statutory, inalienable , legally enforceable right and it has been earned by the sweat of their brow. "

 We may stress that what we are asking is only that being senior citizens we should be treated with dignity and courtesy we deserve in the same manner in which GOI has been treating its  senior citizen pensioners with four revisions of their pensions and family pensions including the interim revision as per the 7th CPC .  With regards---------- Kasiviswanathan

29)1)For all the financial bonanza ,which our premier financial institution does to UOI, regarded rightly as ATM to UOI, nothing by way of understanding or recognition to LIC,Giant in every sense of the term,testimony to financial strength, solvency & stability, --these by itself should have guided MOF/UOi to accept LIC CHAIRMAN & TOP Mgt request for any relief or concession

Our Top Mgt hesitate to ask,UOI is happy

2)Even DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS GIFT IS NOT OFFERREDWHAT A PITY !

3)SEPTEMBER Pension umpteen requests, appeals,phone calls to EDP to synchronise with 27 September 2017 payment of salary to Employees,EVEN when we, they, all  knew 1 & 2 October 2017 were also Holidays,  so credit of pension can happen ONLY on 3rd Oct,NOTHING moves the Goliath .IS it the word Discretion is abolished from the vocabulary of Chairman & MDs too , when circumstances are quoted & dire need to relax rules exist Look how graciously & magnanimously UOI  MD & CEO agreed to genuine request of Pensioners to credit Pension on 18 October.

4)Comprehensive suggestions,so valuable & helpful to all pensioners in Group Mediclaim ,many shortcomings, wrong deductions ,all pointed out by many Federations, went unheeded without an iota of improvement & Chief OS said, it seems, next year 2018-19 scheme, these will be processed

5)Unions were gungho that Final Option for entry to Group mediclaim has been agreed, but that proved wrong through Regret letter from MOF to LIC CHAIRMAN

6)If on 6th September, 2017 in Mumbai Hotel, Felicitations to Founders ,Pensioners Function was held for ALL Former Chairman & MDs all over assembled & EDs from Mumbai & a Silver plate was presented, it must follow ipsofacto that same silver plate be given as a memento to ALL EDs at ALL other places & certainly a suitable  & decent memento of value  to all other Pensioners too

7)In fact, when UOI is allowing PU & even agerelated,value added pension at ages 80.85,90,95 & 100 with rise of 20 %,30,40,50 & 100 %CG, PSE of CG, State Govt,Railways,Defence, OROP, Judicial services, University Professors,Lecturers & teachers,in short except Financial & Service sectors, in fact real Engines of growth.What a pity 18 long years of prolonged,legal battle ,with terrific expenses for pensioners, LFDonations from paltry pension, 16500 & more pensioners have died & are dying, Family Pensioners have gone up from 17 % to 37 %, 2018 will dawn, SLPs will continue with Replies & Counters,mere Rs 200cr per annum for LIC as outlay for pensioners,nothing high or formidable, CG Pension bill will cross CG Wage bill in 2019, yet merrily ,Improved Fitment PU is granted,

WHITHER EQUITY, JUSTICE, FAIR PLAY & WHY OUTRIGHT DISCRIMINATION & ANAMOLIES are perpetuated,without rhyme or reason,WISDOM must dawn on Eminent SC Bench to come to true colours & rectify tha malady to shower  much-delayed denied justice to all pensioners

30)Dear sri nagarajan,1)Look, it is selective acceptance or selective rejection

ie, when PU comes, or such rightful things like early pension credit as too many holidays/sundays etc , Govt turns a deaf ear

But when it is Midday Meals Coupon beenfit from Substaff to ED costing rs 450 cr pa, no reference to UOI, Mgt did it & periodically, it is enhanced too

Look at contrasting positions ,one for Employees & another for Pensioners

That shd NOT be the HALLMARK of ENLIGHTENED TOP MGT

2)Same was the case when 8gm gold coin was given to ALL EMPLOYEES ,including Apprentices & Probationers for Golden Jubilee of LIC ,but NOT for PensionersAll these are appearing in our SLP submissions & detailed brief to Sr CounselWe have worked like a bull all through many years & decades to add, strengthen,consolidate,draw parallels, enormous goldmo=ine of data, Charts & Tables to prove Discrimination & Absurd Anamolies, why citizens are discriminated CG,SG etc enjoy skyhigh PU & agerelated additions too BUT Financial sectors to fend for themselvesEven the Almighty cannot stand this INEQUITY, INEQUALITY & VIOLATION of Fundamental Rights enshrined in our sacred Constitution,& similarity of circumstances with same length of service of same cadre to secure Same pension also violated
