Two wins Klöber office chairs for Maersk in Hamburg
A.P. Møller Maersk is the largest container shipping line in the world. The headquarters of the German office was looking to relocate in 2016, and they moved into the Ericus-Contor with their current staff of around 350. The building, which was designed by Copenhagen architects’ office Henning Larsen Architects occupies a prime location in Hamburg’s harbourside HafenCity. The new offices are furnished with chairs by Klöber, the seating manufacturer from Owingen.
With subsidiaries and offices in more than 130 countries, the Maersk group employs
more than 88 000 people worldwide in the maritime transport and container logistics
industries. HafenCity Hamburg was an attractive location for the new headquarters
of the German office.
Maersk has the use of 4500 m² floor area in the fourth to seventh floor of the Ericus-
Contor. The building is provisionally certified to gold standard as a green building,
and has full-height windows, a double-glazed façade, concrete core activation
cooling and an additional ventilation system to create a premium modern workplace.
With the Spiegel headquarters as an immediate neighbour, the building is
reminiscent of the distinctive pointed silhouette of a ship’s bow.
Quality, ergonomics and design Corporate values of importance to Maersk, such as diligence, commitment and
creation of the right working environment for employees, have been taken into
consideration for the outfitting of the offices. As well as a high quality standard,
ergonomic outfitting, design and user-friendly products, the goal was to integrate a
highly versatile mesh-back chair into the office concept.

In cooperation with furniture manufacturer WINI and local dealer Gärtner, Klöber
provided a 6-seater bench as a product sample. Klöber selected the models Mera
88 with mesh back and Mera 94 with fully upholstered backrest. Both models come
with 3D armrests, deep-sprung seat and large castors. The idea of submitting two
models for the tendering process was based on the consideration of individuality
and flexibility. This allows every employee to pick the chair that feels right for them.
Mera – the team favouriteWith the coherent overall impression and optimum price-performance ratio, Klöber
hit the jackpot with Maersk. One feature that made the Mera series so appealing
was its innovative character. Maersk ordered 350 Mera 94 and Mera 88 office chairs
in total.
