Class Assemblies/Graduation Day

The following Assemblies and Graduation Days will take place this term at 9.15am;

KS1 - Friday 26th June at 9.15amMrs Miller’s class - Friday 3rd July at 9.15amMr Dempsey’s/Mr Andrew’s class - Friday 10th July at 9.15am

Nursery and Reception – Graduation Day will be held on Monday 13th July at the following times:

9.15am – 10.00am - Nursery10.30am – 11.30am - Reception

Sports Day for KS1 and KS2

Our Annual Sports Day will be held on Wednesday 17th June at 10.00am for KS1 and 1.30pm for KS2. In the event of inclement weather, the reserve date will be Thursday 18th June. Parents are invited to attend this event.

Intra-Sports Day

We have also arranged an Intra-Sports Day on Friday 12th June for the KS1 and KS2 pupils. Pupils can wear their PE kits on this date.

Induction day for Reception Class

We have arranged an Induction Day on Thursday 18th June at 9.15am- 10.30 am for parents of pupils who will be beginning Reception Class in September. Parents can meet the staff, order uniform and find out how to support their child in school.

Year 6 SATs and Summer Tests

May I remind you that Year 6 SATs will take place during the week beginning Monday 11th May. It is essential that all Year 6 pupils attend school on these dates. Summer tests for Years 3, 4 and 5 will commence the following week.

SATs tests for Key Stage 1 will take place between 4th – 22nd May.

Read,Write, Inc - Curriculum Evening – 11 th May

We are holding a Read, Write, Inc. curriculum Evening on 11th May to inform parents regarding the new phonics scheme.

Parents are invited to attend one session (see below):

Session 1 - 3.30pm – 4.15pm – Parents of pupils in Reception

Session 2 - 4.30pm – 5.15pm – Parents of pupils in KS1

Please complete the slip below and return it to school by Tuesday 5 th May. If you have already returned your slip please ignore this statement.

E- Safety Talks to Parents

This term we have arranged a workshop in June with KS2 pupils to educate pupils about safety on the internet.

Parents have also been invited to a meeting in school regarding safety on the internet on Monday 22nd June at 3.30pm - 4.30pm. This meeting will be held in Mr Dempsey’s room.

If you want to attend on that date, complete the slip overleaf by Tuesday 5th May.

Pupils’ individual reports will be distributed at the beginning of July. Should you wish to discuss the content of the report, staff will be available on Wednesday 8th July from 3.30pm until 5.00pm.

Family Learning Maths Workshop – Wednesday 24 th June 1.30pm – 3.00pm

Key Stage 1 and Reception parents have been invited to attend a Maths Workshop and make some numeracy activities to use at home with their children. During this session they will get to meet other parents and get tips about supporting their children at home.

Finally

Thank you so much for taking part in ‘Sponsored Bike Ride’ event. We raised a huge £103.00 to support the school.

We raised £425.77 for Red Nose Day in March and a huge amount (£2,273.26) was raised by the children at the Olympic Athlete event. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.

My thanks go to all the pupils and parents who supported the school with these charity events.

What is the Parent Teacher Association (PTA)?

We are a charitable organisation (charity no. 1050183) run wholly by volunteers, comprising parents and grandparents of the pupils at RGPS.  Through partnership with the School we aim to enhance our children’s school experience by organising After School Clubs and Events

A message from the School CouncilWorld Book Day

We celebrated World Book Day last term. We had lots of brilliant costumes! I liked Sam Ross’ costume. He dressed as the Highway Rat. Sailor Rose dressed as the Queen of Hearts and Harry Moffett was Paddington Bear!

Olympic Volleyball Player Visits School!

What a fantastic visit from the Olympic Volleyball Player, Peter Bakare. He started his career as a basketball player. His coach advised him to try volleyball. He only had two years to train for the

Olympics! He played a volleyball match in assembly. It was so amazing!

We did a training circuit which involved certain exercises e.g spotty dogs, leg drives, push ups and star jumps. It was a fantastic day which involved everyone.

Red Kite Sculpture

Last term the School Council decided to design a Red Kite Sculpture for the Eco Garden. This Red Kite Sculpture represents our school. Miss Martin combined our ideas to design this sculpture. We think it is amazing!
