Welcome to your home away from home atVILLA TEPI SUNGAI - LEGIAN.

We are an Australian and American expat couple who have been living and working in Indonesia for over a decade (Bec is an Early Childhood Specialist and Henry is a Financial Advisor). We decided to choose a location that is right in the heart of Seminyak/Legian, where we have the best shopping, beaches and restaurant scenes right at our doorstep.

We wanted to settle down and build a luxury villa that we could live in and call home. However, circumstances have changed, as we are now working in Singapore and North Sumatra. We would love to share “our baby” with other travelers who have also come to love the Island of the Gods and want to use our villa as their own home away from home – Mi Casa Es Su Casa…..

We are avid travelers ourselves and we totally understand that it really is the little things that count when creating a more pleasant and comfortable stay. So please feel free to email, telephone or skype us with any questions or requests.

Thanks – Bec and Henry

We have entrusted our villa to be overseen by Arie and her team from Taman Bali Property Management. She has trained and sourced the delightful and friendly staff that greets you every day. Arie and her team are responsible for all daily operations and maintenance of the villa. So please let them know if there is something broken, needs to be repaired or just needs replacing (such as light globes, the toilet is blocked or there is no toilet paper). We often aren’t aware of these problems, as no one lets us know. So please don’t think you are complaining, it only helps us make your stay that much better.

Our Staff

Vila Manager: Ayu Ayu lives in Denpasar and facilitates all preparations before your arrival. She is not on site daily, as she is at the property management office around the corner. However, she is always happy and available to help you if needed.

They will assist you on a daily basis, where one staff member is scheduled to always be available to you throughout a 24-hour day. If there is anything that requires their attention please let them know. English is not their mother tongue/native language; however, they are extremely kind and helpful (plus they love learning new English slang words).

There is also a pool attendant, who comes twice a week to the villa.

Features of the Villa:4 x Guest/Kids Rooms1 x Master Suite3 x BathroomsLap PoolRoof TerraceSpa RoomWater DispenserGourmet Kitchen and Cooking

Guest/Kids bedrooms: There are 5 luxurious bedrooms in total with 4 kids/guest bedrooms and 1 master suite.

Lap pool: As Bec loves to swim for exercise, the pool was designed to either swim or run up and down for fitness purposes. Hence why the pool is the same depth the whole way down the length of the pool.-If you have small children and are concerned about pool safety, then we can pre -a temporary pool fence to be put up during your stay. -The reason the villa was designed with the bi-fold doors, is so that at night time when the kids are asleep, parents can have peace of mind that they can’t enter the pool area, as the bi-fold doors are locked.

Roof Terrace: This is Henry’s little oasis, as he considers himself to be the “BBQ King”. It is a great spot to entertain and have dinner, drink a sunset cocktail and just chill with friends.

Laundry: There is a laundry facility just off the kitchen, where you can ask the staff to wash and iron your clothes on a daily basis. Make sure you take advantage and have everything cleaned and ironed before you return home. What a luxury to come back from holidays and not have to wash all your dirty clothes.

InternetWifi Password: sorryiforgot

ElectricityWe try to be as eco-friendly and appreciate your understanding to keep electricity and water usage to a minimum.

Indonesia in general, sometimes just runs out of electricity and can’t provide enough capacity. On occasions, for maintenance or repairs, there are scheduled/rolling blackouts and the power may go off for a couple of hours. Therefore, why there are torches in the bedrooms for this purpose.

It is appreciated if possible that you do not use both the fan and the air conditioner in your room at the same time, as sometimes this can be too much for our supply and it may trip the switch. If this does happen, please call our staff in charge or check the power box in the garage.

Our staff will turn off electric appliances and air conditioners when guests are not in the Villa.

Smoking: For the comfort of future guests, we ask that you do not smoke inside the bedrooms.

Creatures: Bali is tropical third world country. You may sometimes see lizards, bats, rodents, snails, birds, ants and beetles. Mostly these will not harm you. However, Bali is a Dengue fever area. We supply mosquito spray and coils in all bedrooms, plus we also “fog” regularly to keep the mosquitoes at bay. However, please be aware that in Bali, we are surrounded by open drains which are breeding grounds for mosquitoes, so please take precautions such as; keeping bedroom doors closed, especially after 4pm; use mosquito repellent; wear light, long, loose clothing etc.

LOST ITEMS – keys, torches, towels, blanket, glass ware - we know that items can sometimes be lost or broken and we are able to help you replace them at the following costs below.Keys – U$ 5 /itemTowel – U$ 20/pcsTorch - U$ 5/itemGlassware/Crockery – U$ 5/item

Kitchen and Meals: If you book through the internet, the first day of your holiday, includes a complimentary breakfast. Breakfast or other meals has not been included for the rest of your holiday, as people all have different requirements for breakfast and other meals.

Some are happy with just a piece of toast and a bowl of cereal and others prefer the full fry up. The staff is more than happy to cook you breakfast or any other meals. All you have to do is just submit your requests the day before hand and they will go shopping for you and present you with the receipts, where you can reimburse them later on.

TIPS: If you are a person who loves to indulge in a fancy breakfast when on holidays, then head out and about to some of the nearby cafes. Bec’s favourite breakfast hotspot is Ku De Ta; where for about Rp 180 000 you can have the set breakfast with eggs any style, fruit, fresh juice, tea/coffee. It is the best value for money when you also get to have an amazing view over the beach. Bec has tried the Eggs Benedict at many cafes on the island and still votes Ku De Ta as the best she has ever had.

Spa Room: Living in Bali definitely has its small perks, especially with fabulous massages and facials at your fingertips. That is why Bec designed a small quiet room with a massage table, so she can telephone a mobile spa service to come to the villa whenever she wants. So definitely take advantage and indulge in this special addition to the villa. Just ask the villa staff to telephone ahead of time and a certified and experienced therapist will come. Rates are on average IDR 200 000 per hour and you just pay cash directly at the end of your treatment.

Water Dispenser: One of the best elements about staying in a villa as compared to a hotel, is that you have access to the water dispenser. Instead of lugging bottles of water from the supermarket back to your hotel room, all you have to do at the villa is fill up your re-usable water bottle. The staff will happily replace the water dispenser whenever it runs out – just let them know when it is running low and they will change it over.

Kids Meal Time: The other great element about staying in a villa; is when there is a kitchen and villa staff at hand to whip the kids up a quick snack or early dinner.

There is nothing worse than taking the whole family out for dinner (and generally it is earlier than when the parents prefer to eat). Then the kids are getting grumpy or bored and causing chaos in the restaurant. Not to mention the prices add up and generally the kids leave a lot of food behind.

So, it is a great idea to feed the kids at the villa at an early time, whilst mum and dad enjoy a cocktail or two. Then the kids can have a slumber party, whilst the parents eat later on or even might be able to go out for a quick bite to eat whilst the kids are looked after by one of our highly recommended baby sitters.

Services at Villa Tepi Sungai:

Anything and everything is available to you, all you have to do is ask our Butler and villa staff to help you out.

They can book you into restaurants, tours, spas, activities etc. Just show them what you would like and they can do the rest.

Meals: As mentioned before, meals are not included, as we strongly encourage you to head out and about and try some of the amazing award-winning dining experiences the island has to offer. However, if you wish to eat at the villa, just show the staff a shopping list and they will go and purchase the items for you. They will then cook whatever you like and will show you the receipts for you to reimburse them the costs.

The staff have a recipe book / menu list of some of their favourite dishes. They love to learn new international dishes, so why not bring out your inner Jamie Oliver and introduce them to a new recipe perhaps?

Cleaning: Your villa will be cleaned and serviced daily, where bedrooms and bathrooms will have towels and linen changed on an as needs basis, which is generally every few days. If you require more frequent services, please speak to the staff about your requests

Transport: Taxi: They are very good now (particularly Blue Bird Group Taxi's) and they are air conditioned (sort of - but it's better than nothing)! Insist that the meter works (get out if not) and pay only what is on the meter rounded up to Rp 10 000 ($1) for a tip if the service is to your liking. Taxi’s are good for short trips to a supermarket, restaurant and shopping, for 3-4 people.

Car and Diver: Our property manager Arie can provide transport services. Her drivers all speak impeccable English, know the island like the back of their hands and are extremely honest. If you ever have any transport requirements, please ask the staff to contact Arie’s drivers to share with you their island.

Scoters: The villa staff can arrange a scooter to be delivered to the villa and for you to hire it for as many days as you want. Please be mindful that if you have an accident, the majority of travel insurance companies will not cover you unless you also hold a motorbike license back in your home country. So, if you do unfortunately have an accident and have to go to hospital or to see a doctor, tell them you were riding a bicycle and came off it.

The next “must do” when using a scooter is to wear a helmet at ALL times! This is one of Bec and Henry’s rules and we have really made this clear to villa staff.

Everyone whether they are a guest or villa staff must wear a helmet at all times! It doesn’t matter if it is just down the road or not. They have had many friends seriously injured and even died due to not wearing their helmet, as they were just “popping down the road”. All scooters that are hired can also come with a helmet. Also, the villa has 2 x helmets for guests to borrow and wear.

Ojek: This is an Indonesian word which means “someone giving you a lift on their scooter”. If you need to have a small errand made where a villa staff member takes you or you ask them to do it for you (EG: pick up some grocery items or food from a cafe, go to the tailor etc), please hand them a few dollars (EG: Rp 20 000) as this pays for their petrol and includes a small thank you tip.

Telephone: If you would like to have a hand phone to use whilst in Bali, you can borrow one of the villas 3 x hand phones that have local SIM cards already installed. This way you can stay in contact with other guests staying at the villa, should you all decide to spilt up during the day.

The hand phones also have important contact phone numbers already installed such as Bec and Henry’s phone numbers, Siloam Hospital and many favourite restaurants.

Babysitting: As Bec is an Early Childhood Specialist, she has personally selected local babysitters from a prominent agency that provide certified, experienced and honest caregivers.

Please speak at least 24 hours ahead of time when you need a baby sitter and the villa staff will contact the agency for a caregiver to come over, so mum and dad can have a romantic night out and about

Bec and the agency suggest one babysitter for every 2 children, so if you require more than 1 person, please make this clear when enquiring.

All of these highly qualified women work to strict Early Childhood standards and criteria, where the safety of your child is the number one priority.
