OUR FRIEND NANCY A cheque from our congregation for $1,315 was presented to Nancy, who cleans our church, to help with her expenses after

her house suffered extensive fire damage.  She was quite overwhelmed with the gift as were those who were able to be there at the presentation.  A warm thank you to everyone who

offered their help and prayers for Nancy as her house and belongings rise from the ashes with the help of her

community.

Layreaders & Eucharistic Assistants With permission of our Bishop, several of our parishioners assist with

liturgical duties at our Sunday Services and during the week when we go out to Nursing Homes and Seniors’ Housing with the Reserved

Sacrament. Our Eucharistic Assistants are: Debbie Cawker, Bernadette Coburn, and Suzanne Mason. They are licensed

upon request of the Rector and continue each year in that role. Our Layreaders are licensed upon request by the Bishop and their license is renewed each year on the First Sunday in Advent. They are: Justine Blizzard, Michael Blizzard, Nancy Cook, Isabelle Hockin

and Lolita Smith. This year our Layreaders have moved from “Layreaders in Training” to “Parochial Layreaders”, a reflection of

their experience and training over the years. We congratulate them on their new designation.

NOVEMBER VESTRY UPDATE---Mission Beyond – Food Pantry distributed 19 bags so far in November. Food deliveries of Food Bank items continue each month. White Gift is well underway with approximately $4,000 in our account to cover this project. Blankets leftover from the Rummage Sale were taken to Grace House.

---Mission Within – The Ladies Advent Coffee Party is set for December 7 at 10:30 am; Stir-up Sunday will be celebrated Nov 24 with PAC supplying the Soup after church.---Finance Committee – Our envelope offerings continue to be in line with our budgeted expectations. A “tentative” projection for a lower than budgeted deficit was suggested by our bookkeeper with the emphasis on “tentative.” Having our investments in the Diocesan Consolidated Investment Fund has proved financially advantageous as we have eliminated the hefty management fees we were incurring with ScotiaWealth. Unspent funds from the Archdeacon Grant Fund ($1,850) and the Hebblewhite Fund ($8,300) were transferred to the Operating Account.---Buildings and Grounds – Two projects for St. Anne’s Chapel have been completed this year: painting of the window frames and repair work on the stone wall surrounding the Chapel. Total costs around $11,500. A suggestion Box for any Buildings and Grounds concerns has been set up in the mail slots outside the Church Office. Parishioners are encouraged to make use of this. A suggestion to put insulation around the main door of the Chapel for the winter months will be investigated. The leaky roof above the Charlotte St. Entrance has been repaired.---Housing First Project – In response to the Parish Meeting in September, the Vestry approved the following motion: that the Rector and Wardens, following consultation with the Diocese, enter into agreement with the United Way of Central New Brunswick and the Fredericton Community Foundation for funding, construction and ownership of a residential building on parish property containing four apartments to be used as permanent supportive housing units for persons in the community, pursuant to the principles and guidelines of the Fredericton Housing First Fund. ---Other Business – ** Christmas Services will be Christmas Eve – 6:30 pm & 9:00 pm (With Carol Sing at 8:40 pm); Christmas Day – 11:00 am** A motion was passed at Synod to encourage the drawing up of a Mission Action Plan by every Parish. ** The equipment for Pickle Ball is available for the use of our Church. A committee will be set up to coordinate gym time for their use in the new year.

Housing First ProjectOur Housing First project is moving forward. The application we submitted was approved, and our proposal was explained and discussed at the parish consultation forum held on September 29th. The consensus of that meeting was that a strong majority of parishioners support this ‘Mission Beyond’ initiative.At the parish Vestry meeting on November 17, a motion was passed unanimously to “… enter into agreement with the United Way of Central New Brunswick and the Fredericton Community Foundation for funding, construction and ownership of a residential building on parish property containing four apartments to be used as permanent supportive housing units for persons in the community, pursuant to the principles and guidelines of the Fredericton Housing First Fund.”Our parish committee is jointly chaired by Lawra Hanscomb and Perry Kendall. Other members include Pat Stephens, Josh McDorman and Reed Smith. They will be working with the Fredericton Housing First coordinators to develop our plans. Construction is forecast for the summer of 2020. We are one of the first four churches to participate in the project.All parishioners are encouraged to speak with committee members to ask any questions or share their ideas and recommendations. Look for future updates in upcoming Sunday bulletins.
