Press Release: July 2018 The Leeds Philharmonic Chorus is delighted to announce the appointment of Joseph Judge as their new chorus master. He will join them for their 20018/19 season onwards. Competition for the post was strong from an excellent and talented field of 21 applications submitted. Joseph says: I am thrilled to have been appointed as Chorus Master, and very excited to start working with Leeds Phil – founded in 1870 and still thriving today, I am particularly looking forward to the high quality, professional standards of this choir, akin to what they have been revered for to date. This season will see the choir performing with the Hallé, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, and the world famous Black Dyke Band – and you can rest assured that Leeds Philharmonic will be giving exciting, expressive, and memorable performances alongside these fantastic ensembles. Here’s to the 2018/19 season and the future! Short Biography: Joseph is a highly versatile Conductor and Singer based in the UK. Recently appointed Chorus Master of the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus, he is also Director of the Hallé Choral Academy, Artistic Director of the Exon Singers Festival, and of the Leeds Guild of Singers. A graduate of the University of Manchester, he will be studying for a Master of Music in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2018, which will include working with the BBC Philharmonic and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras. Joseph is in demand as a Countertenor, frequently engaged as an oratorio soloist and regularly sings on live broadcasts with the BBC Daily Service Singers, as a Lay Clerk at Manchester Cathedral, and with a variety of other ensembles. He was one of the eight inaugural Fellows of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain (NYCGB),

Short Biography:

Joseph is a highly versatile Conductor and Singer based in the UK. Recently appointed Chorus Master of the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus, he is also Director of the Hallé Choral Academy, Artistic Director of the Exon Singers Festival, and of the Leeds Guild of Singers. A graduate of the University of Manchester, he will be studying for a Master of Music in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2018, which will include working with the BBC Philharmonic and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras.

Joseph is in demand as a Countertenor, frequently engaged as an oratorio soloist and regularly sings on live broadcasts with the BBC Daily Service Singers, as a Lay Clerk at Manchester Cathedral, and with a variety of other ensembles. He was one of the eight inaugural Fellows of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain (NYCGB), performing as part of an elite vocal octet throughout the UK and in Malta, Shanghai and Hong Kong. He studies with Nick Powell, and has participated in masterclasses given by James Gilchrist, Harry Christophers, Neil Ferris, and Lucy Schaufer.

Joseph has also worked with Hallé Youth and Training Choirs, St George's Singers, as music staff on NYCGB Courses and adjudicator for Jersey Music Service’s PwC Young Musician of the Year, directed the vocal recording session for the PlayStation 4 advert, The King, and conducted in the Bridgewater Hall as part of the Thank Hallé It’s Friday series. He is the founder and director of Turton Consort, who often broadcast live on BBC Radio and whose performances have included a highly acclaimed recital of Monteverdi Madrigals at St Ann’s Church, Manchester, and at the Whitworth Art Gallery for the opening of the Marcantonio Raimondi exhibition.
