9:15 AM Begin your adventure at the Port of Burlington Welcome Center. Dedicated in 1928 as the Burlington Municipal Docks, the building enabled barges to be loaded with coal by means of an overhead conveyor. The Port of Burlington is now home to a State of Iowa Welcome Center. Information on statewide attractions, souvenirs, and a video of local attractions combine with historic displays to make this an ideal starting point for visitors.

10:30 AM Become inspired by the artists featured in the gallery of the Art Center of Burlington. The Art Center showcases the works of local, regional, and some international artists and craftspeople with monthly exhibits in the Gallery and one-of-a-kind items in the Artists Market. Create your own art to take home a piece of Greater Burlington with you.

12:30 PM Enjoy lunch catered from one of downtown Burlington’s restaurants on the stage of the beautifully restored Burlington Capitol Theater.

1:30 PM Tour behind the scenes of the restored Burlington Capitol Theater which recaptures an era when movies and live entertainment were enjoyed in beautiful and unique theaters. This 1937 Art Deco jewel re-opened in 2012.The intimate 355–seat venue, along with its reception and gallery annex, hosts independent and classic films as well as local, regional, and national touring artists. Following the tour take a seat with your popcorn and enjoy a classic movie in the classic theater.

3:30 PM Spend the remainder of the afternoon shopping downtown Burlington. This area is home to many locally owned boutique and specialty shops. These one-of-a-kind stores will allow you to spoil yourself or find a special gift to share with a friend.

5:30 PM Depart for home.
