Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Greetings from the Organizing Committee of International Conference on Interventional Pain Management (ICIPM) 2011, Chennai. It gives us immense pleasure to extend a warm and cordial invitation to you all to participate in this Inaugural Conference, hosted by a team of Interventional Pain Specialists from Chennai between the 8th and 11th of September 2011. This Conference will be hosted in the sprawling green campus of Chettinad Health City situated south of Chennai near the Bay of Bengal.

The theme for ICIPM 2011 is “Safety in Interventional Pain Practice.” Pain medicine is young and rapidly evolving science. It is rapidly gaining acceptability as an essential and independent specialty in the West and in India. In keeping with these rapid strides, it is essential to translate the scientific advances to our day-to-day practice of interventional pain management. Along with this, it is also important to keep it an absolutely evidence-based science with highest standards in safety during clinical practice. We shall endeavour to achieve excellence in clinical pain practice through the spread of accurate information to maximize patient’s safety and efficacy of pain interventions. Eminent National and International Faculty will serve as distinguished faculty for the Conference and cover broad perspectives in interventional pain management. We have assembled an enviable group of Interventional Pain Physicians as Faculty. We will try to provide a scientific treat that will improve both scientific knowledge and clinical skills.

Prof. P. Prithvi Raj, Founder and Past President of the World Institute of Pain , has kindly consented to inaugurate the Conference and deliver an inspirational talk during the Conference. This will provide an opportunity for young Pain Physicians to interact with the doyen of interventional pain practice and the author of numerous pain books. We have also planned “The Prithvi Raj Oration” during the Conference to be delivered by a pioneering Pain Physician.

Chennai is known for its beautiful temples, long beaches and its welcoming people. The historic town of Mahabalipuram is within motorable distance from the campus. Chettinad Health City campus is unique in having majority under ‘green zone’ with bicycles rides and chirping birds. The campus is situated close to the coast of Bay of Bengal and one of the banquets will be in a beach resort. The climate in Chennai would be pleasant during the month of September. We have arranged separate bus services from various points in the city for the convenience of the delegates. Hostel accommodation has been arranged for the PG Delegates. The Conference Halls and the Chettinad campus is itself a stateof- the-art experience. In all, we hope you have an enjoyable and informative experience in ICIPM 2011 which we hope will change your entire outlook towards interventional pain practice.
