Slapneck Creek at Akkala Road (SN02) MiCorps Site Directions This site is on Private Property owned by Jeff Davis and used with his permission. He should be contacted before any visits at 906-251-8827. This road to this site is a well-maintained gravel road and should be accessible by any vehicle. Start: N 46.36588, W 086.96195 End: N 46.36507, W 086.96249 Turn onto Akkala Road from M-94. It will be on the right 1.7 miles west of Chatham if you’re coming from that direction or on the left 12.4 miles east of US-41 if you’re coming from there. The white Pontiac on the left is parked at the Akkala Road turn (view driving east from US-41) Drive .6 miles to the end of Akkala Road just before the washed out bridge (but this is past the faded “Bridge Out” sign). Park in the gravel parking area across from the white house.

This road to this site is a well-maintained gravel road and should be accessible by any vehicle.

Start: N 46.36588, W 086.96195

End: N 46.36507, W 086.96249

Turn onto Akkala Road from M-94. It will be on the right 1.7 miles west of Chatham if you’re coming from that direction or on the left 12.4 miles east of US-41 if you’re coming from there.

From there you will need to walk in to the site. Take the left two-track at the end of Akkala Road.

The two-track fork at the end of Akkala Road. Take the left fork.

You will cross a chain gate and continue a short distance down the two-track past several derelict boats until you reach a cabin. The end of the reach is to your left as you approach the cabin and it should be marked with green and pink flagging. The start of the reach is downstream around the bend past the cabin and should also be marked with green and pink flagging.
