1.4 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

B. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:1. Preparation instructions and recommendations.2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.3. Installation methods.

C. Shop Drawings:1. Before any of the materials in this section are delivered to the job site, submit

complete shop drawings to the Architect.2. Shop Drawings shall include plans, elevations and detail sections. Show jointing,

anchorage and accessory items, and specify finishes. Shop drawings must show actual dimensions of existing conditions where heating unit covers are to be installed.

3. Shop drawings must be coordinated with and submitted simultaneously with curtain wall shop drawings. Shop drawings must show current wall setting and heating unit cover interface.

D. Verification Samples: For each finished product specified, two samples, minimum size 12 inches (305 mm) square, representing actual product, color, finishes and patterns.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Verify dimensions by field measurement before fabrication, where possible, without delaying the project. Design units to provide for adjustment and fitting of components during field installation.

B. Preassemble units at the shop to the greatest extent possible to minimize mechanical joints, splicing and field assembly of units.

C. Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and workmanship.1. Finish areas designated by Architect.2. Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color and sheen are approved

by Architect.3. Refinish mock-up as required to produce acceptable work.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

A. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

C. Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.

2.2 MATERIALS

A. Materials: Provide materials which have been selected for their surface flatness, smoothness and freedom from surface blemishes where exposed to view in the finished unit.

B. Fasteners: Provide concealed fasteners of the same basic metal and finish as the fastened metal. Use round washer head, phillips self drilling, zinc-plated head machine screws where exposed, unless otherwise indicated.

C. Anchors: Use non-ferrous metal or hot-dip galvanized anchorages on exterior walls. Installer shall provide toothed steel or lead shield expansion bolt devices for drilled-in-place anchors.

D. Corrosion Control: Prevent galvanic action and other forms of corrosion by insulating metals and other materials from direct contact with incompatible material.

E. Sound Deadening Material: Unfaced, mineral-fiber blanket insulation complying with ASTM C 665, Type I, and passing ASTM E 136 test.

F. Steel Sheet: Flat sheet complying with ASTM A 366, recommended by the producer and finisher for type of use and finish indicated with strength and durability preparation of alloy.

G. Aluminum Sheet: Flat sheet complying with ASTM B 209, alloy and temper recommended by aluminum producer and finisher for type of use and finished indicated, and with not less than strength and durability properties of alloy 3003-H14.

H. Galvanized Steel Sheet: ASTM A 653/ A 653M, Z275 coating, either commercial steel or forming steel.

I. Stainless Steel Sheet: ASTM A 240/ A240M or ASTM A 666, Type 304 stretcher leveled standard level of flatness.

J. Bronze Sheet: ASTM B36/ B36M, alloy UNS No. C28000 (muntz metal, 60 percent copper) or alloy UNS No. C23000 (red brass, 85 percent copper).

2.3 FABRICATI0N, GENERAL

A. Fabricate units from material thickness specified, made from sheets conforming to ASTM A 366.

B. Fabricate units to support a minimum loading of 200 lbs. per sq. ft. or 150 lbs. per lin. ft. (whichever is greater) without permanent deflection. Provide stiffeners or laminated backing as required for strength and rigidity. Include brackets, plates and straps in the assemblies for support and anchorage to other work.

C. Form enclosures to the profiles, sizes and shapes shown. Form sheet metal sections to provide flush meeting edges without metal-to-metal laps at joints or exposed metal edges, unless otherwise shown.

D. Fabricate units so that they are removable and fit to a tolerance of not less than 1/32 inch and not more than 1/16 inch at each edge.

E. For miters and copes to be tight fitting, square and in true alignment. Close exposed corners and seams by forming procedures or by welding, brazing or soldering and grinding smooth and flush on exposed surfaces. Comply with the recommendations of AWS and NAAMM for welding, brazing and soldering. Edges shall be smooth and free of any burrs.

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

B. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best results for the substrate under the project conditions.
