Dear K.R. Rao : Thanks for your message. The passing away of Chinna baba must be a great shock and loss for all of you. I also feel it is a personal loss for me also as I knew him very closely during our stay in Delhi during 1958-60. We had a wonderful time meeting regularly during weekends and having a great time. I simply can't forget. I am very unlucky for not seeing him again after my last meeting in Delhi. One way he inspired me also to come to U.S. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. We are now on a visit to Dallas with my youngest son Dr.Arvind. Where are you ? Are you still in Jackson?. I am retired and spend time between India and U.S. How is your family? My wife Jalaja and children convey their condolences and regards to you. Please keep in touch. You have done a great service by sending the photos of Chinna Baba. Thanks: Anandarao

K.R. Rao garu & Indira garu,Hope you are gradually recovering from the recent shock of your younger brother's sudden demise. You have indeed very loyally performed your duties as an elder brother --conforming to our vedic traditions. This is to be highly commended esp. being in a foreign place!  I am sure the family is appreciative, & his soul has found PEACE in heaven.

An excellent tribute to a very loving & affectionate younger brother from an all too generous, affectionate elder brother & an  affectionate, caring SIL. He is indeed very fortunate to have you both.

We can understand how much he meant to the family & you & your family in particular. We can only pray to that  Good Lord  to give you enough strength to bear the loss  & may time heal your pain in due course. Pl. convey  our condolences to the  bereaved family.

Pl. feel free if we can be of any help during this time,Regards, sharada , Venkat, & family.

Kalpakam joins me in conveying our sincere condolences on passing away of your younger brother.I have gone through the life sketche of your brother.. What an acomplished personality his was!

The two sons are no less endowed with their brilliance in their achievements as I see from their biographical sketch- coming out of the portals of princeton and hopkins etc.

We pray that the Almighty may give the fortitude to all the family members at this hour of bereavement and pray may the departed soul rest in peace.

My dear Petha,Very touching reproduction of events. I recall my visit to him in 1961 at the University hostel to his room, when he said " you want to see the only hindu temple in this university" Then took me to a locked cabinet and opened it to show me the idols, carefully decked with Sandal paste in the appropriate direction. (Was it John Hopkins Mt Sinnai Hospital?)I wish I had taken a picture but I tought "Oh God! Protect this special devotee of yours" I had met

Dear Raj:

I appreciate the kind Condolence message that you sent me on the passing away of my younger brother Dr. K. Subrahmaniam on June 9th. I had to wait this long to send you this email, since just yesterday we completed our travel arrangements for India. My brother had 'WILLED' that I immerse a part of his ashes at Ganges. Indira and I will be leaving on October 27th to India to immerse the ashes at Hardwar soon after our arrival in India. There after we intend to visit Varanasi where I and my brother spent several years. We intend to visit a few temples at Vijayawada and elsewhere before returning back to US, after this unforeseen trip, on Jan 20th 2010.

Based upon your querry I updated the web site www.krrao.net to include about his academic pursuits since arriving at US and getting his doctorate. I also included clippings about his two children, Dr. K. Narayana and Dr. K. Rama Rao.

Pedda means in Telugu 'bada i.e., older' and Chinna in Telugu means 'chota i.e., younger'; so chinna baba implies 'chota baba'!

Thank you once again for the kind message you sent for the "Eternal Peace for my brother's Soul".

Best wishes - KR

Dear KRR sorry to hear of the paassing away of your brother.

From what you have written on your web site, we can only get a very rough idea of what he must have been like. I know you will miss him.

What is the meaning of Pedda Baba ?

My brother had 'WILLED' that I immerse a part of his ashes at Ganges. Indira and I will be leaving on October 27th to India to immerse the ashes at Hardwar soon after our arrival in India.  There after, we intend to visit Varanasi where I and my brother spent several years.  We intend to visit a few temples at Vijayawada and elsewhere before returning back to US, after this unforeseen trip, on Jan 20th 2010.

I thank you for the kind message for the "Eternal Peace for my brother's Soul". Regards - KR--- On Tue, 6/23/09, Yong Tao <[email protected]> wrote:

Dear Tarun: I appreciate your telephone call condoling the passing away of my younger brother Dr. K. Subrahmaniam on June 9th. We tried very much to squeeze in Raichur in our itinerary, even going from Vizag but the train schedules seem to be cumbersome. However, at Mumbai we will definitely make it a point to have telephone conversation with your brother. So email me his address, including email address and telephone numbers (cell included). Please convey Indira's and my respects to your parents. Thank you and Prema for the kind tele-call with wishes for the "Eternal Peace for my brother's Soul". Best wishes to you and your family from me and Indira, KR Uncle
