Responsible for the fire readiness of a Type VI engine module with a crew of 3-5 individuals Provides daily leadership for crew members in accomplishing fire suppression, pre-suppression,

and wildland urban interface/intermix situations In charge of tactical operation of the fire engine module when responding to wildland fires Assists in initial attack and suppression actions, including determining incident needs and

dispatch and deployment of personnel and equipment Assures subordinates are fully trained and comply with all safety regulations Implements a physical training program Ensures the maintenance of crew fleet equipment Participates in fuel management projects, prescribed fire, and thinning projects Coordinates and completes work with other district disciplines as needed

Serve as an assistant under the Engine Module Supervisor on a Type VI Engine Responsibilities include supervision, safety, and work production of engine crewmembers in a full

range of initial and extended attack fire response Participates in prescribed burning operations, station maintenance, and resource management Makes initial size-up of fire situations, analyzes fire behavior, determines suppression method

and type of tools to be used, deploys engine and directs tactical operations during initial attack Explains safety measures, and work procedures, performs applicable administrative duties Cooperates with a variety of partners, both internal and external Works in support of both fire suppression and prescribed fire operations

Shoshone National ForestThe Shoshone National Forest was set aside in 1891 by President Benjamin Harrison as part of the Yellowstone Timberland Reserve--making it the first national forest in the United States. The forest is an essential part of the 10 million acre Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, which is centered in Yellowstone National Park. The Shoshone consists of 2.4 million acres of varied terrain ranging from sagebrush flats to rugged mountain peaks. It is home to over 335 species of wildlife, including bighorn sheep and one of the few remaining grizzly bear populations in the lower 48 states. Over half (1.4 million acres) of the forest has been designated as Wilderness.

The forest borders Yellowstone National Park to the west, the Montana state line to the north, and South Pass WY to the south. It includes portions of the Absaroka, Wind River, and Beartooth mountain ranges, and the crest of the Continental Divide follows the western boundary of the forest south to Yellowstone. Elevations on the Shoshone range from 4,600 feet at the mouth of the spectacular Clarks Fork Canyon, to 13,804 feet on Gannett Peak, Wyoming's highest point.

There are five Ranger Districts on the Shoshone: - Clarks Fork, Greybull, and Wapiti Ranger Districts headquartered in Cody, WY- Wind River Ranger District located in Dubois, WY- Washakie Ranger District located in Lander, WY

Dubois Dubois is located in the valley of the Wind River in northwest Wyoming at an elevation of 7,000 feet. It is flanked on the south and west by the Wind River Range, and on the north by the Absaroka Mountains.

During the summer there is excellent fishing, camping, backpacking, horseback riding, and sightseeing opportunities. Autumn brings big game hunting, and winter snow opens the backcountry to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.

For a small community of about 1000 residents, Dubois has a surprising variety of activities and groups for all ages. The K-12 school is housed in a new building with approximately 150 students and 45 staff members. Many

civic organizations actively contribute to the quality of life, including Kiwanis, Lions, Chamber of Commerce, American Legion and Auxiliary, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and the Boys and Girls Club. Several different churches are also active within the community.

Mountain Sage Holistic Clinic offers routine and urgent care services Mon-Sat, and the Dubois Medical Clinic is staffed part-time by physician assistants and a doctor. Ambulance services provide emergency care and transportation to hospitals in Riverton, Jackson, and Lander; and Wyoming Life Flight also serves the area. Commercial airports are 75 miles away in either Jackson or Riverton. Larger retail shopping opportunities and specialty medical care can be found in Jackson, Riverton or Lander.

Housing rentals can range from $400.00 - $800.00 per month in apartments, houses, or cabins. House prices average from $100,000.00 - $250,000.00 with options ranging from smaller lots in town, to property with acreage outside of town.

Dubois is a small, isolated, frontier, mountain town which is proud to have maintained its old west flavor. One of the local favorite sayings is, "It's not heaven, but you can see it from here!"

Cody Cody was founded in 1887 by Colonel William F. Cody –better known as"Buffalo Bill.” It is 52 miles from the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park, 100 miles south of Billings MT, 492 miles north of Denver CO, and 214 miles northwest of Casper WY.

Cody is 5,095 feet above sea level with average temperatures of 23 degrees in January and 72 degrees in July. Annual rainfall averages 9.4 inches and snowfall averages 35.2 inches yearly. Residents enjoy sunshine more than 300 days a year, and snow does not stay on the ground long in winter.

Year-round recreational opportunities are almost limitless in Cody with the surrounding mountains, forest, and wilderness areas: fishing, hunting, horseback riding, backpacking, mountaineering, mountain biking, wind surfing, golfing, water skiing, boating, rock hunting, bowling, roller skating, tennis, hiking, snow skiing, snowmobiling, camping, picnicking, or driving one of several scenic loop tours.

The population of Cody is approximately 9800. The community offers numerous churches, doctors, dentists, an excellent hospital, a nursing home, public library, 6 banks, local shopping, 2 theatres, a senior citizen center, a volunteer fire department, Search and Rescue, and an airport with daily connections to Denver and Salt Lake City.

Cody's school district has five elementary schools, a middle school, and a senior high school, all with student to teacher ratios of approximately 20 to 1. Many private and Christian schools also are available. Northwest College, a fully accredited junior college, is just 30 minutes away in Powell.

Average rental prices in Cody are about $550 per month, and the average purchase price of a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home is $92,000 in town, and $119,000 out of town. Property taxes are low, state sales tax is 4%, and there is NO state or local income tax.
