1) The NewsHello, and welcome top Fridays Sheffield & Rotherham Jobcentres Update.

We start today with news of an Open Day from Capita. We’ve a reminder of the impending arrival of Universal Jobmatch and news of how it will affect next weeks Updates. The

Territorial Army are visiting Hillsborough Jobcentre in a couple of weeks so we have a look at that, as well as a reminder about Caterer.com. There’s also 4 new Apprenticeships via Sheffield Futures.

In today’s Latest Vacancies, we’ve got Warehouse Operatives, Trainee Butchers, Sports Makers, Hair Stylists, and many more. Plus there’s a couple of new Meadowhall vacancies.

Capita Open Day

Tuesday 20th November between 10am and 3.30pm

There may be a chance of an interview on the day but this will depend on the number of interested applicants attending. However, in order to be interviewed on the day, you MUST take:

1. Passport OR full sized birth certificate (if name on Birth Certificate is not current name, a full paper trail must accompany it e.g. marriage cert, deed poll etc.

2. Proof of National Insurance Number e.g NI card, Jobcentre Plus ES40 booklet, a letter from HMRC or Jobcentre Plus

3. Proof of address e.g bank statement, utility bill, letter from HMRC or Jobcentre Plus, TV licence, motor insurance. This proof MUST be dated in last 3 months and have your name and current address listed on it (N.B. mobile phone bills not accepted)

4. A full 5 year history of work, education or unemployment with NO gaps.

5. Two references from current/previous employers, tutors or education. No personal references allowed.

Universal Jobmatch: Next Week

As I’ve mentioned on previous Updates, next week sees the launch of Universal Jobmatch, which is the new way in which you conduct your Job Search with Jobcentre Plus. It’s particularly important if you have a current claim, and you will need to know what you need to do and why.

There should be plenty of information and advice within your local JCP office, but in addition to that I will email out a step by step guide to Universal Jobmatch on Monday. This should explain what you need to do.

Also, because I will be involved with this launch, next week we will have just the one Update, probably on Tuesday, but possibly on the Wednesday. It’s only for next week, and we should be back to normal the week after.

As I said the other day, don’t panic: there’s nothing you can do until next week anyway. And with the support from your local office, and the email you’ll get on Monday, hopefully it will be a smooth transition.

The T.A. at Hillsborough JCP

The Territorial Army are recruiting and will be present in Hillsborough Jobcentre on Friday 30th November.

….. If so, Caterer.com is a cracking website to check out. They cover all aspects of catering and hospitality, from Chefs to Hotel staff and everything in between. The search engine is really easy to use, and covers the whole of the UK.

There is also a really useful facility where you register your details and the site automatically emails you any vacancies that match your criteria. There’s also a section where you can search companies/restaurants by name, and see the vacancies they have available. You then click a button and it pulls up a map of exactly where the job is. There’s loads of other features, such as salary checkers and even interview advice.
