‘’Creating your surroundings’’ tutorial.

Images that you use should contain meaning from varying areas of your life for you.

1. Browse in Bridge2. Pick Waterfall and Heather3. Select figure using the Quick select tool and paste into the Waterfall image.4. Change figure size and using filter sharpen the image.5. Using the Dodge and Burn tool blend edges into background. 6. Under the layers palette click ‘fx’ and put a drop shadow and effect on Heather.

7. Pick TARDIS from Bridge and select only the TARDIS using the Magnetic lasso tool, copy and paste special, in place.

8. Change the opacity on the TARDIS to about 86% and using the Dodge tool create light streaks through it.

9. Pick vines from Bridge, crop image to only the area of vines you’ll be using.10. Using the Quick Selection Tool select the background, then inverse the selection in

‘Select’. 11. Erase any of the white background left and use burn tool to darken edges and create

shading on leaves.12. With Free Transform change the size of leaves and position on right arm. 13. Transform: Horizontal flip and rotate 90 degrees CW and position a way you find

looks good on right arm. 14. Repeat on left arm and on face, under eye.15. Use the Dodge and Burn tools to highlight and shade areas to suit their lighting on

figure image.

16. Pick Gemini sign form Bridge.17. Using the Quick select tool select the sign, copy and paste into image. 18. Using Free Transform, change size and position on right arm, near wrist amongst

vines to make it look like it’s a part of them. 19. Use Dodge and Burn tools with shading and highlights.

20. Pick Needle from Bridge.21. Using the Magnetic Lasso tool select the needle and thread.22. Copy and paste special, in place.23. Using Free Transform, change size and reposition onto the top, at the collar.

24. Using the Erase tool, erase some of the needle to create the effect it is been put through the cloth.

25. Using ’Image’, ‘Adjustments’, Shadows/Highlights, adjust settings until you are satisfied the needle and thread look like its realistically sitting on the top.

26. Using ‘fx’ again put a drop shadow on the needle and thread.

27. Quick select, select some of locket.28. Select, similar areas of locket, then select areas left out. Only locket not background.29. Copy, paste, in place. Change size with Free Transform and position under hand.30. Using the Dodge and Burn tools create light and shade to create the appearance the

locket is being held.

31. Pick the Lavender from Bridge. Select the lavender with the Quick selection tool.32. Copy and paste.33. Erase any remaining white pieces from the background.34. Free Transform, change the size and reposition. Make it look like its being held in the

hand.

35. Erase extra areas that are not needed such as the end of the green stalks.36. Use the Burn tool to blend with the background and to shade.

37. When you are finished this should be how it looks.
