Meet WA State Representative, Steve Bergquist

Your Apollo PTA has invited Representative Steve Bergquist to visit Apollo this Wednesday, November 13th! He will be meeting with Mrs. Mundell, touring the school, and talking with teachers, students, and parents. Any parents interested in meeting your representativeshould join us in the PTA room shortly before noon. Our representatives in Olympia are counting on us to let them know our priorities. I recently heard a political panel explain they hear from more constituents regarding chickens than they do about education. So don't be a big chicken, come and advocate for your school and your student! Questions? Contact Amanda at [email protected]. THANKS!

What is MAH?

MAH: Is a Math at Home Program sponsored by your PTA. The program's mission is for families to realize they can do math at home with their kids just as easily as they read together. MAH's goal is to strengthen student’s math skills, reasoning, problem solving, and confidence of the subject. The United States is currently ranked 27th for math globally. Our students need us to be involved in more than reading at home.

No need to spend your weekend doing workbooks to improve math skills, instead play a card game or board game with your child, build something, cook something, ask them to figure out what time it is in NY while you ride in the car, these are all ways to help your child grow mathematically. So turn off the TV, get out the games, it will add up to lots of math minutes and some great family time too! Need more clarification, ideas, or help? Contact Amanda at [email protected].

'Tis the Season to Give Back to our Community

There are three easy ways to participate in Apollo's Giving Campaign. All programs will run between November 19th - December 6th.

Giving Tree Toy DrivePlace any new, unwrapped toys under the tree in the office between 11/19 - 12/6. If you pick toys that appeal to your child's age and gender, we will have a wonderful variety for the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank.

Virtual Food DriveJust $1 can feed a family of four a nutritious meal at Northwest Harvest! From 11/19 - 12/6, bring spare change and bills to your teacher and help your class win a special celebration.

Traditional Food/Clothing DriveThe Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank is in need of very specific items this year. Please place the following items in the bin outside the office between 11/19 - 12/6. Peanut butter, jelly, baby formula, canned items (chicken, tuna, salmon or corn), underwear, hats, and gloves.

It is time to start sending in those Box Tops again! Last year, Apollo earned over $1,700.00 last year due to the hard work of all the parents and students in collecting Box Tops! Box Tops are on over 200 products and you can earn Box Tops by shopping online here as well! To kick-off this year’s efforts, we are having a contest!
