Cancer Screening – awareness surveys

Background:

At West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance we are working to transform cancer services in our area, to deliver better outcomes for patients and catch cancer earlier.

We are carrying out a piece of work to hear the views of people in West Yorkshire and Harrogate around the issues of cervical cancer, breast cancer, and bowel cancer screening. This insight work will consist of a survey and series of co-creation sessions. The outcome of the insight will be to develop three campaigns to raise awareness of the individual screening programmes and the importance of being screened (with the aim to increase screening numbers in the region).

Surveys:

We have developed three surveys to capture knowledge, attitudes and opinions from targeted groups on the three screening programmes:

Cervical Cancer Screening survey:Females and anyone with a cervix, aged 25-64https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WQCSRZM

Breast Cancer Screening survey:Females and anyone with breasts, aged 50-74https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WQ7FJLB

Bowel Cancer Screening survey:Males and females, aged 60-74 https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WJ3PQ93

The surveys aim to understand the things that might stop people booking (or completing) screening, and things that might encourage them to.

We expect the surveys will take around 20 minutes to complete.

For each survey completed we will be donating £5 to a chosen charity (selected by the participants) – up to 200 responses.

Social media assets for supporters:

We have developed a series of graphics (and suggested copy) for anyone to post on their social channels to help us spread the word about the surveys and encourage people to take part.

We kindly ask you to post these graphics and links to the surveys to your networks on Facebook and Twitter, or via any internal or external newsletters you may manage.

The graphics are supplied in a separate folder and the sample content can be seen overleaf.
