Management Internship and Training Program
Situation: Internship to complete my schooling requirements for my associates degree
Task: Management in Training program at Domino’s Pizza, Heath, Ohio store
Action: Take active role in team leadership, time management, inventory count and ordering, hiring new employees, train employees, control food and labor cost, improve customer service skills
Result: Finished Internship and asked to finish management training program with happy general manager. I helped raise sales, improved on customer’s delivery times, improved employee cross training and lowered labor cost with that process.
Safety Improvement: Double Reduction Line
Situation: Current prep staging method is causing seal leaks and damaged baffles from laying parts on sides. Quick fix was setting parts in tubes that were unsafe and fall over.
Task: 2Store parts stable, save time on hook up method, ergonomic, safety for storage and assembly.
Action: I approached management with a junked spinning yoke tree redesigned with a steel plate on top and holes to support shafts upright. Set with height to make easy transfer from stand to part assembly and storage underneath for parts.
Result: Safe parts from not falling over, more ergonomic for workers, eliminating seal leaks and damage to baffles.
Lean Management
Situation: Management wants to reduce dunnage in work areas.
Task: Reduce cardboard boxes, plastics, wood skids, with safe storage.
Action: Looking online at a supplier’s homepage and noticed returnable plastic containers. Approached management with idea of cutting dunnage and replace our high volume used Timken Bearings and Bearing cups with returnable containers.
Result: Took trip with management team, worked out details with supplier and implemented idea.
Production Cost Reduction
Situation: Try and save money on production cost of each part.
Task: Find ways to cut cost of production, parts, shipping.
Action: Approached management with two locations on line where shims were used is packs totaling, .025 to .060 with new part sizes of .020 and .040 shims, (presently only .002, .005, .010 sizes).
Result: Less fine cut to get in range needed saved $0.28 per part.
Ergonomically Improved Work Area
Situation: Part prep production area
Task: Make ergonomically safe and more productive
Action: Did a graphical layout of area, inventoried equipment available (lift tables, tilt tables, work table), plan drawings, cleared engineering, scheduled proper departments for installation.
Result: A safer work area ergonomically designed for less bending, lifting, and movement of stock. Increased production time without added cost.
