The tour continued in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia where I performed at High School No. 5 and the Inner Mongolia University for Nationalities. Next, I gave a master class at Beijing Normal University on improvisation. The tour ended with a residency at the Tianjin Grand Theater in Tianjin including a performance and master class. Studio Album with Donny McCaslin (April 2012): I, as part of the UNCG Jazz Ensemble recorded an album with saxophonist Donny McCaslin. We played student arrangements of all original compositions by McCaslin. Performance and Arranging Experience

Fundraiser concert for Greensboro Urban Ministry (November 2011): Partnering with Greensboro’s leading philanthropic organization, the Imaginary Friends Ensemble raised a significant amount of money for Greensboro’s hungry. We performed Sechs Deutch Lieder by Louis Spohr.

French Embassy (June 2011): The Imaginary Friends Ensemble performed at the French Embassy in Washington D.C. by invitation as part of the annual Fête de la Musique celebration. We performed a lesser known piece for this instrumentation entitled Six Japanese Songs by living American composer Margaret Garwood. Each of the six movements pertains to a different form of Japanese poetry. Other selections from this program include Three Folk Songs by living American Composer John McCabe and Beauty Haunts the Woods by Malcolm Arnold.

Concert with Peter Bernstein (April 2011): As part of the annual Miles Davis Jazz Festival I performed in a concert with Peter Bernstein. I arranged one of Bersteins compositions for big band for this concert.

Studio Album with John Ellis (January 2011): I arranged two big band charts of Ellis’ compositions for this album.

Bucharest International Jazz Competition (May 2010): I am the founder of the piano trio, Unit Three. We competed by invitation in this competition and earned the prize “Best Band” against groups from around the world, many ten years our senior.

Live Album with lee Konitz (April 2010): I arranged a big band chart of Lee Konitz composition It’s You for a live album recording for the Miles Davis Jazz Festival.

Urban Sophisticates (2010-2011): The Urban Sophisticates is a Hip-Hop group based in Greensboro. I played Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, and keyboard bass with this group in many performances including a tour of Mississippi.

Studio album with Joel Frahm (May 2009): I played piano and Fender Rhodes of the album: The Music of Joel Frahm and Seamus Blake with guest artist Joel Frahm. I arranged a big band chart of one of Blake’s compositions

Piedmont Wind Symphony (Spring 2009): By invitation I played piano on Symphonic Dances from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein.

Jazz Ascona (June 2008): I was the pianist for the Capital Focus Jazz Band for two years. This is an educational jazz band specializing exclusively in early traditional jazz from the early 20th century. We traveled to Ascona and Locarno, Switzerland to perform in Jazz Ascona, a jazz festival featuring over 200 concerts in 10 days. We performed in multiple venues around the historic cities of Locarno and Ascona including a performance on a lake-side stage for over 500 festival attendees.

Sacramento Jazz Jubilee (May 2007): With the Capital Focus Jazz Band, I performed in this California music festival, originally the Sacrament Dixieland Jazz Jubilee. This annual festival occurring every Memorial Day Weekend since 1974, features traditional jazz, blues, swing, zydeco, and bluegrass music. We performed in over ten venues across the city of Sacramento.

International Association of Jazz Educators’ Jazz Consortium (2004-2006): I attended this summer educational program three years in a row. I received lessons, attended master classes and jazz theory classes from the jazz faculty of the University of Maryland including saxophonist Chris Vadala. During this program, I performed extensively in a combo setting as well as with the faculty.

Furia Flamenca (2006-2008): I was a dancer and percussionist for this flamenco dance company for three years. I played the cajon for this group, a Peruvian wooden box instrument that was adapted in Spain to have guitar strings on the inside of the instrument giving it a sharper sound. The instrument has been a traditional flamenco instrument for decades. I was a part of Lorca, a show based off the poetry and stories of

Spanish dramatist and poet Federico Garcia Lorca. With a seven-piece orchestra of guitar, percussion, strings, and voice, we performed this award-winning show at the Atlas Theater and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. I still perform occasionally with them.

Matices (2004-2008): I was a competitive and performing dancer for this Peruvian folkloric dance company. I also played the Peruvian cajon for these dance performances. As a member, I performed on the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C. as part of the Cherry Blossom Festival and at the Magic Kingdom Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida

Employment

Adams Farm Community Church (2012-present): I am the choir director at this church. I select music for the upcoming services, rehearse the choir, and conduct the choir at services.

Guilford County Public Schools (2009-2011): I was asked to be the arranger for the annual On Stage! production. This is a county wide show, featuring the best student ensembles, grades K-12, across Guilford County. I arranged their performance music for a seven-piece orchestra and conducted the show as well.

Norwegian Cruise Line (2010-2011): I was the Musical Director aboard the Norwegian Jade. I managed a seven-piece orchestra and conducted the production shows on board. I led rehearsals for the guest artist shows and conducted these as well.

Private Lessons (2007-present): I have been an educator of child and adult students in both classical and jazz music.

St. Rose of Lima Hispanic Choir (2006-2008): I was the assistant choir director and accompanist for the Hispanic Choir at this Catholic church in Maryland. I taught basic music theory to the members of the choir and facilitated rehearsals.
