I'm sure some of you are thinking ofleaving your home and movinginto a senior community. It'sa big decision, at least itwas for me.

My husband and I hadlived in our home for 47years. We raised our fourdaughters there and thenthey moved a ways away.

After my husband died Ithought it would be best if Ilived closer to them. Whilevisiting my youngest daughter shesuggested we go visit some seniorcommunities, just to see what theywere like. I figured that just visitingcouldn't hurt!

I got lucky because the first onewe visited seemed to haveeverything I needed, all that Iwanted and immediately seemedlike a place where I could feel “athome.”

I sold my house, luckily, quitequickly and the new community wasable to get me a one-bedroomapartment that really fits my new,simpler lifestyle.

Clearing out the houseseemed like an

insurmountable task butwith my children's helpwe did it in a day or soand were even able tohelp out some localflood victims with a

furniture donation. That felt good, but I

was also amazed that I wasactually relieved not to have

the burden of ALL THAT STUFF! As many memories as there were

in that house I am glad to not be aslave to it any longer –– no moreworrying if the sink would leak, orthere would be an electricalproblem and NO MORE YARD WORK!

It's such an advantage to be ableto go to my grandchildren'svolleyball and soccer games. I havemade many new friends here andthere are always activities if I wantto participate.

I did leave a few good friendsbehind but there is always

the telephone, a letteror an occasional visit.

I love myapartment and I'mso happy I decidedto make themove!
