웹 서버에서 쌍방향 통신하는 HTML 문서나 파일과 연동하고 출력하는 응용 소프트웨어.

소프트웨어 :- 포트번호 80 번 사용- 아파치 , IIS, nginx, GWS, lighttpd etc.- 클라이언트로부터 요청을 받고 , 응답

하드웨어 :- 위에 언급한 기능을 제공하는 컴퓨터

- POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3)- 원격 서버에 접속해서 이메일을 가져온 후 서버에서 이메일을 삭제

- IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)- 요청에 따라 그때그때 메일을 보내주는 방식

- SMTP(Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)- 보내는 사람의 메일 서버에서 받는 사람의 메일 서버로 메일전달 . - 25 번 포트 사용 .- SSMTP 는 465 번 포트 사용
