BackgroundCasemix Grouper software is a tool to improve effi-ciency and quality of care in hospitals and medical cen-tres. The utilisation of Casemix Grouper amonghospitals is very limited and depends on their existinglocal machine and hardware. While Casemix Grouperprovides a crucial output in the form of Casemixgroups, the hardware machine should not be a limitingfactor to hospital. Thus, the objective of this develop-ment was to provide the utility for end user to use theCasemix Grouper on web environment.

Materials and methodsThe conventional way of providing Casemix Grouperservice is by deploying standalone software at user’slocal machine. This will create problem when user’smachine are diverse and does not meet the requirementfor running the Casemix Grouper. The online CasemixGrouper will have 2 modules, which are for user and forthe admin. The user module includes the authenticationlogin and then uploading the input file. Developing aweb based using Java Servlet Page (JSP) will provideaccess to all the available browsers on any operating sys-tem, so that end user can upload the Casemix input file. After the input file has been uploaded, online grouperwill process the input file and generate an output file. The user will receive the output file via user-registeredemail. The admin module will also have authenticationlogin and will be able to monitor the whole process foreach users.

ConclusionsWith the implementation of Casemix Grouper as a web-based application, user can now avoid the stringenthardware requirement on their local computers for stan-dalone Casemix Grouper. The end users can now focusonly on generating the input file and will receive outputfile without extra effort. This usage of web applicationof Casemix Grouper software will facilitate the provisionof efficient and quality care in hospitals and medicalcentres.
