One of the most serious decisions a family has to make is where their loved one should go for short-term professional nursing and rehabilitation services, or where they can reside long-term. Seneca View provides caring services and a sense of community from dedicated nursing assistants and professional nurses. Seneca View combines a comfortable, secure,homelike environment with a team approach to care, a wide range of activities and immediate access to Schuyler Hospital’s inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services – in addition to new specialty services available through our affiliation with Cayuga Medical Center.

Medical ServicesA variety of medical services are provided to residents atSeneca View. These include cardiology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, podiatry, psychiatry, and psychology.

Other specialty medical services are able to provide consultation at Seneca View, or residents may be transported to appointments.

Because it is a hospital-based facility, Seneca Viewresidents have access to the full range of hospital services, such as the Radiology, Lab, and Emergency Departments, the Pain Clinic, and acute care. This access provides a level of confidence and security for residents and their family members.

Rehabilitation ServicesComprehensive physical, occupational and speech therapy services are provided at Seneca View under the direction of the Schuyler Hospital Rehabilitation Services Department. Our highly qualified therapy staff includes board-certified specialists in Geriatric Physical Therapy and Orthopedic Physical Therapy, as well as specialists certified in wound therapy and lymphedema management. They have earned a regional reputation for their professional and caring manner. Each resident who receives therapy services is assured of an individualized plan that is designed to maximize his or her functional abilities and quality of life.

Social ServicesOngoing case management and advocacy is provided by dedicated social workers, who are committed to our residents’ well-being and self-determination. Services include Advanced Directives planning, discharge planning and community agency referral, transition to placement counseling, individual counseling, coordination of educational forums and materials, as well as integration of appropriate psychological and psychiatric support services.

Seneca View offers clergy visits through our ChaplaincyProgram, which is sponsored by the Schuyler CountyCouncil of Churches. Residents are welcome to havevisits from clergy of their choice. In addition, a variety ofreligious services are scheduled onsite each week, and families are welcome to attend with their loved ones.

Personal Services

• Provided by NYS licensed professionals, onsite hair styling and barber services are available to all residents.

• Laundry and housekeeping are provided.

• Our residents are complimentary of our dining program.

• Telephone and cable television are available at an additional cost.

Residents’ Council

The Seneca View Residents’ Council encourages our residents to help make plans for upcoming activities and special events, and to discuss any questions, recommendations or concerns they may have.

Activities & RecreationThe Seneca View Activities Program offers a broad range of innovative social, recreational and educational programs designed to meet the interests, needs and abilities of all our residents. Our unique approach enhances our residents’ quality of life through programs such as pet therapy, crafts, community involvement, current events, socials, music and exercise. Residents, family, friends and staff of Seneca View also enjoy special events such as dining clubs, seasonal functions, campfires and intergenerational holiday programs. Frequent outings in the community include going to restaurants, shops, museums, parks and a variety of local Finger Lakes opportunities. It is the goal of the Activities Department at Seneca View to continually provide meaningful and memorable experiences for all of our residents and their families.

Resident Care PlanResident Care Plans are designed to maximize each resident’s abilities and enhance their quality of life. The plan is based on a comprehensive assessment of the resident’s needs, and helps to focus the efforts of our multidisciplinary care team. In addition to the resident and his/her family, the attending physician, nursing staff, social workers, rehabilitation therapists and our activities staff are all involved in the development of this plan which is regularly reviewed and revised.
