Weather--what the air is like at different times and places

Rains— water falls to the earth from the clouds

Drizzle– a light rain (a little bit of rain)

Warm– when the air is heated; not cold or not hot

Thunderstorm– a storm with thunder and lightening

Dangerous– likely to cause something bad or harmful to happen

Blizzard– a long snowstorm with strong cold wind filled with snow

Snow– soft, white flakes that fall from clouds when it is cold

Sleet-- icy mixture of rain and snow

Hurricane– storms with strong winds and heavy rain that form over the ocean

Tornado– a storm with strong winds that whirl and travel in a funnel-shaped dark cloud

Ground– the ground is made up of dirt and is the solid surface of the Earth

Ocean– a large body of salt water that covers most of the Earth’s surface

Flood– happens when a lot of water flows over normally dry land (this can happen when it rains a lot)

Whirl– to turn quickly in a circle

Cirrus– a kind of thin, white cloud found high in the sky

Wind sock– a sleeve, open on both sides, used to measure wind direction
