MBS Takes A Stand Against Drugs! The MBS campus celebrated Red Ribbon Week and embraced the theme “Our Future is Bright”. The students attended an assembly pre-sented by the Sheriff's department discussing the dangers of drugs as well as a Fire Safety presenta-tion by school parent and Battalion Chief Lo-eser. Red ribbons were tied onto the school fence and the students and staff formed a symbol-ic red ribbon on the playground. Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a unified and visi-ble commitment towards the creation of a DRUG-FREE AMERICA. Other topics incorporated into the week at MBS were healthy eating, safe envi-ronment and anti bullying.

SPONSOR NEEDED FOR RCIA

CANDIDATE

My name is Athena Reyes. I am a baptized Catholic who desires to complete the sacraments of initiation. I am at a place in life where my spirituality is a top priority and I would like to set a strong example to my growing family of what it means to be Catholic. I am currently in RCIA to com-plete confirmation and eu-charist and I need a sponsor who will help me as I con-tinue my progress toward Easter when I will complete my initiation into the Church. If you are able to support me with your prayers and presence, I would be honored to meet you. Our meetings are held on Sunday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Please contact Eileen Smith for further information at 949-234-1354 or [email protected].

SPONSOR NEEDED FOR RCIA

CANDIDATE

Hello, my name is Antwan Gibson. I have been going to mass for the past few years, and have decided that I would like to become Catholic. My wife is Catholic, and we are going to raise our son Catho-lic. I am interested in learning more about the Church and I want to develop a closer rela-tionship with God. I am currently serving in the mili-tary in the Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton, and I am excited to be associated with Mission Basilica in my journey to become Catholic. At this point, I have entered the RCIA process and now need a spon-sor to accompany me while I am preparing for Confir-mation and Eucharist and my profession of faith. We meet on Sunday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Please contact Eileen Smith if you are able to assist me in reaching my goal! 949-234-1354 or [email protected].

de Angelis Vocal Ensemble invites you to join us for the opening concert of

our ninth season, Britten's Britain.

Our performance will be a joint tribute to both beloved British composer Benjamin Britten, on the 100th anniversary of his birth, and to Queen Elizabeth II, on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee. We also hon-or St. Cecilia, the ecclesiastical muse of music, with whom Britten shares a birthday and for whom he wrote the enchanting Hymn to St. Cecilia, one of the highlights of our concert. The centerpiece of the day will be Britten’s sublimely beautiful Choral Dances from his coronation opera Gloriana. Britten was commissioned to write the opera for the June 2, 1953, crowning of Queen Elizabeth II as monarch of the United Kingdom. The event was a lavish ceremony steeped in millennia-old tradition for which Britten’s operatic theme and homage was Elizabeth I who ruled England during its golden age. Sunday, October 27, 2013, 3:00 p.m. Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano For information or to purchase tickets, contact us at www.deangelisensemble.org or (714)928.9567. Tickets are also available on our secure website or at the door the night of the concert.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS SPIRIT 2013

♦ Please help us bring the Christmas Spirit to the incarcerated men, women, minors, their families and loved ones by donating Christmas cards and stamps.

♦ Last year, Catholic Detention Ministry passed out nearly 7,000 Christmas cards with stamped envelopes to inmates and minors incarcerated in the Orange County jails and juvenile facilities.

♦ To keep the Spirit alive this year we need more Christmas cards and first class or “Forever” stamps. ♦ The cards should reflect our love for Jesus through the celebration of his Holy birth. Please mail or bring the cards and stamps to us at:

Office of Restorative Justice/Catholic Detention Ministry 1820 W. Orangewood Ave., Suite 101 Orange CA 92868

Your generous support is greatly appreciated. For more information about us, check out our web site: www.rcbo.org/restore.

Serra’s Pantry- Annual Christmas Party

Pantry gift donation bags are being collected this weekend before all of the masses. This year our Christmas Party will be held on Sunday Dec 15 and we expect to serve more than 300 families so all gifts are appreciated. If you were not able bring a gift this weekend you can still help out as gifts, gift certificates, or cash gift donations can be dropped off at the Parish Office any time prior to Friday December 6. Please prayerfully consider donating a gift to help needy children experience the joy of Christmas.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, If you would like to serve Christ and would like to grow in HIS love, our Senior Brown Bag Ministry may be for you. The volunteers prepare about 50 bags of groceries twice a month for our seniors that are homebound in San Juan Capistrano. You may be part in preparing the bags, delivering the bags or both. We also have a Friendly Visitor Ministry. The vol-unteers are paired up with a homebound, isolated, senior who has a lot to share and would like to share their stories with you! VIII Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano

`Nosotros, la comunidad Católica de la Misión Basílica San Juan Capistrano, un lugar de peregrinación y de paz,

estamos llamados a movernos “siempre adelante”.
