Mission Statement

St. Margaret is a diverse Chris-tian community centered on the Eucharist which makes present in our midst the mystery of our redemption in Christ. Here, we grow in faith and love for God and one another. Our lives proclaim the words of St. Paul: “You are strang-ers and aliens no longer. You are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God”. (Eph 2:19) You are welcome to journey with us. Together with our Blessed Mother, we give ourselves to do God’s will on earth as it is in Heaven.

CHRISTIANS ARE CALLED TO SPREAD AND AFFECT 0THERS WITH THE HOPE OF CHRIST!

Dear Friends in Christ;

The whole world still lives uncertain times. We are all trying to adapt to this new reality with the hope that this pandemic will end soon. The truth is that it is impossible to predict how long this crisis will last. Diseases and crises do not differentiate between people and affect everyone equally. As a community of faith, we are all interconnected and the truth is that we can get sick. A few days ago, while talking with some people, we discussed how in many places, such as supermarkets and stores, the rules of distancing are no longer followed. I instantly started to question if we, in the church, are going to follow these bad examples? Of course, we’re not going to follow bad examples. We are responsible people and must continue to do everything possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Christians are called to spread and affect others not with virus but with hope, the hope that is the Risen Christ in which we place our faith and trust. As followers of Christ and members of Saint Margaret’s Community, in order to maintain our spiritual and bodily health in the midst of this crisis, we must continue to love, be responsible, and persevere in our prayer life to nurture our faith and maintain our hope. As a church, when we face situations like the one the world is living, and in which all human beings are immersed, we have to continue taking care of ourselves and others. For example, when we come to church, or anywhere else, we should not go without wearing a mask. We should also avoid hugging and shaking hands when greet-ing others or leaving Mass. My brothers and sisters, the spread of the virus can only be stopped with the fraternal collaboration of all. The Church, present in the world for more than two thousand years, has already lived through different stages of humanity, including pandemics. In the church, we have heard the testimony of people who have cared for the sick, even at the cost of their own lives. Also, in times of disease, war and hunger the Church has been the source of Christ’s hope for those who suffer. What I’m getting at, is that the church knows what it is doing and that is why it asks us to be prudent and to take care of ourselves in these times. A global pandemic like this has serious consequences for health, society and the economy. Therefore, at this time, it is important for us people of faith to anchor our hearts in the hope we have in Jesus Christ. It is time to intensify our prayers and sacrifices for the love of God and for the love of our neighbor.

Once again, we are reminded of our common humanity and that we are all creatures under one God (Saint Francis of Assisi).

I am very concerned with the Covid-19 that continues to hurt people. But as I

have always said, people are not protecting themselves and they think they

are eternal. Not only should the elderly protect themselves, but also our young kids and especially those who are going to school. I found a joke that think will make you smile. One day, a little girl is sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly notices that her mother has several strands of white hair

sticking out in contrast to her brunette hair. She looks at her mother and inquisitively asks: “Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?” Her mother replied: “Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white.” The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then asked: “Mamma, how come all of grandma’s hairs are white?” What is the lesson? Be careful with what you say to children because they are very smart. Ciao, Ciao and Woof, Woof.

HOLY HOURJesus spent many hours in prayer with the Father. In fact, every time Jesus was about to make a big decision, the

Gospel tells us that: “He spent the night in prayer.” During the agony in the garden, before he was taken into custody, Jesus spent time in prayer with the Father. This is what the Holy Hour is about, spending time with Jesus

alone. People are afraid to spend this time alone with Jesus because there is a lot of silence and sometimes we can’t handle silence; but, in silence we find and hear the voice of Jesus, who calls us to examine our lives and see what needs to be changed and what we need to make better. In that silence, we can also discover who we are, not only

in relationship to Jesus but in relation to us human beings. Entering into this hour is like entering into the presence of God and tasting his goodness and kindness and finding out how much we are loved. Accept the

invitation to spend an hour every day, if you can; if not, at least once a week. Change any bad habit for this great habit of spending time with Jesus in a holy hour. He is waiting for you.

anniversary? Sometimes, we buy things that people already have and many times that gift probably ends up in the trash or given to someone else. I invite you to consider offering a

mass as a gift to your loved ones or friends for their birthday, wedding anniversary or whatever the celebration. People need our prayers and what a better gift than to have the Holy Mass offered for them. So next time you want to give a gift, give the precious gift of

celebrating Mass for that person.

DIOCESAN MINISTRIES CAMPAIGNI want to thank those who have already given to the Campaign. This is very generous of you and I am happy that you are sharing your blessings with those most in need. One of the greatest joys the Diocese has is the “Catholic Charities.” This organization reaches out to thousands of people all throughout our diocese. One of the things that Catholic Charities offers people in need is food. There is a big food bank that supplies food to thousands of families in our diocese. We thank the people of the diocese because many of them sup-port this institution in order to provide food for the poor. During the pandemic, the diocese distributed thousands of pounds, or better yet, tons of food to the people in all three counties of our diocese. The diocese is able to serve the poor because of your great generosity and for supporting the Diocesan Ministries Campaign. Los cristianos estamos llamados a contagiar a nuestro pueblo pero con la esperanza de Cristo.

Todavía el mundo entero vive tiempos inciertos. Todos estamos tratando de adaptar-nos a esta nueva realidad con la esperanza de que acabe pronto esta pandemia. La verdad es que es imposible predecir cuánto durará esta crisis. Las enfermedades y crisis no hacen dife-rencia entre personas y afectan a todos por igual. Como comunidad de fe todos estamos inter-conectados y la verdad es que podemos enfermarnos. Hace unos días conversando con algu-nas personas hablábamos como en muchos lugares como mercados y tiendas ya no se siguen las reglas de distanciamiento y mi pregunta fue: es que acaso nosotros en la iglesia vamos a seguir ese mal ejemplo? Por supuesto que no. Nosotros somos responsables y debemos seguir haciendo todo lo posible para evitar la propagación del COVID-19. Los cristianos estamos llamados a contagiar a nuestro pueblo pero de esperanza, de la esperanza que es Cristo Resu-citado en el que ponemos nuestra fe y confianza. Como seguidores de Cristo y miembros de la comunidad de Santa Margarita, para man-tener nuestra salud espiritual y corporal en medio de esta crisis, debemos seguir amando, siendo responsables y perseverando en nuestra vida de oración para alimentar nuestra fe y mantener la esperanza. Como iglesia al enfrentarnos a una situación como la que el mundo vive y en la que todos los seres humanos estamos inmersos tenemos que seguir cuidándonos a nosotros y a los demás. Por ejemplo, a la iglesia ni a ningún otro lugar debemos ir sin mascaras. También debemos evitar los abrazos y el darnos las manos al salir de Misa. Mis hermanos y hermanas, solamente se puede detener la propagación del virus con la colaboración fraterna de todos. La Iglesia, presente en el mundo desde hace más de dos mil años ha vivido ya diferentes etapas de la humanidad, incluidas las pandemias. En la iglesia hemos visto el testimonio de personas que han cuidado a los enfermos, incluso a cuesta de su propia vida. También en tiempos de enfermedad, guerra y hambre la Iglesia ha sostenido con distintas expresiones la esperanza en medio de los que sufren. Lo que quiero decir es que la iglesia sabe lo que hace y por eso nos pide que seamos prudentes y nos cuidemos en es-tos tiempos. Una pandemia como esta, trae graves consecuencias para la salud, la sociedad y la economía. Por eso, en este momento es importante para nosotros personas de fe, anclar nuestros corazones en la esperanza que tenemos en Jesucristo. Es hora de intensificar nuestras oraciones y sacrificios por amor a Dios y por amor a nuestro prójimo.

Una vez más se nos recuerda nuestra humanidad común y que somos todos criaturas bajo un solo Dios (San Francisco de Asís).

Memorias de TonyEstoy muy preocupado con el Covid-19 que continúa lastimando

a la gente. Pero como siempre he dicho, la gente no se protege a sí misma y se cree eterno. No solo los ancianos deben prote-gerse a sí mismos, sino también a nuestros niños pequeños y especialmente a los que van a la escuela.Encontré un chiste que creo que te hará sonreír. Un día, una niña está sentada mirando a su madre lavar los platos en el fregadero de la cocina. De repente se da cuenta de que su madre tiene varios mechones de cabello blanco

que contrastan con su cabello castaño. Ella mira a su madre y muy curiosamente le pregunta: “¿Por qué algunos de tus cabellos son blancos, mamá?” Su madre respondió: “Bueno, cada vez que haces algo mal y me haces llorar o ponerme triste, uno de mis cabellos se vuelve blanco”.La niña pensó un rato en esta revelación y luego preguntó: “Mamá, ¿cómo es que todos los cabellos de la abuela son blancos?” Cual es la lección? Tenga cuidado con lo que les dice a los niños porque son muy inteligentes.Ciao, Ciao y Guau, Guau.

HORA SANTAJesús pasó muchas horas en oración con el Padre. De hecho, cada vez que Jesús estaba a punto de tomar una gran decisión, el Evangelio nos dice que: “Pasó la noche en oración”. Durante la agonía en el huerto, antes de ser detenido, Jesús pasó tiempo en oración con el Padre. De esto se trata la Hora Santa, pasar tiempo a solas con Jesús. La gente tiene miedo de pasar este tiempo a solas con Jesús porque hay mucho silencio y, a veces, nos incomoda el silencio; pero, en silencio, encontramos y escuchamos la voz de Jesús, quien nos llama a examinar nuestras vidas y ver qué hay que cambiar y qué necesitamos me-jorar. En ese silencio, también podemos descubrir quiénes somos, no solo en relación con Jesús sino en relación con nosotros los seres humanos. Entrar en esta hora es como entrar en la presencia de Dios y saborear su bondad y descubrir cuánto somos amados. Acepte la invitación de pasar una hora todos los días, si puede; si no, al menos una vez a la semana. Cambie cualquier mal hábito por este gran hábito de pasar tiempo con Jesús en una hora santa.

¿Cuántas veces te has preguntado qué regalarle a alguien por un cumpleaños o un aniversario? A veces, compramos cosas que la gente ya tiene y

muchas veces ese regalo probablemente termina en la basura o regalado a otra persona. Te invito a que consideres ofrecer una misa como regalo a tus seres

queridos o amigos por su cumpleaños, aniversario de bodas o cualquiera que sea la

celebración. La gente necesita nuestras oraciones y qué mejor regalo que recibir la Santa Misa. Así que la próxima vez que quiera hacer un

regalo, dé el precioso regalo de celebrar la Misa para esa persona.

ESTRATEGIAS DE CORAZÓN ABIERTOConsidere estas formas de asegurarse de que el amor

eleve su vida cotidiana:+ Haga una lista de nombres de familiares y amigos cercanos. +Mantenga en cuenta, o anote, sus necesidades, sueños e intereses. +Intente llamar o enviar un correo electrónico a una persona al día.+ Pregúntese si sus acciones y conversaciones diarias, en casa, en la escuela, en el trabajo reflejan el amor de Dios.+ Cada día, ora por todas las personas en tu vida que te aman y a quienes amas. +Termine recordando a alguien que, en ese momento, necesita el amor de Dios.

DOMINGO DE MISIÓN Este fin de semana la Iglesia en todo el mundo

celebra el Domingo de las Misiones. En este día, el Santo Padre, el Papa Francisco, nos recuerda nuestro

llamado bautismal: responder como misioneros diciendo: "Aquí estoy, envíame a mi". Hoy

respondemos a ese llamado, a través de nuestras oraciones y sacrificios personales por nuestros

hermanos y hermanas en las Misiones. En lugares como Uganda, donde la gente enfrenta

incertidumbre alimentaria y violencia...en Filipinas, donde el clero local enfrenta el martirio...en Oceanía, donde el sustento de la gente está

amenazado por el cambio climático y en regiones remotas de América Latina donde la gente estáescuchando el Evangelio por primera vez. Le

invitamos a responder a su llamado como Discípulos-Misioneros apoyando a los sacerdotes, hermanas y hermanos religiosos y catequistas laicos

que brindan un servicio amoroso a los más necesitados. Oremos por aquellos que están dando

su vida al servicio de los demás por el bien del Evangelio.

CAMPAÑA MINISTERIOS DIOCESANOSQuiero agradecer a los que ya han dando a la Cam-paña. Esto es muy generoso de su parte y me alegra que esté compartiendo sus bendiciones con los más necesitados. Una de las mayores alegrías que tiene la Diócesis son las "Caridades Católicas". Esta or-ganización llega a miles de personas en toda nues-tra diócesis. Una de las cosas que “Catholic Chari-ties” ofrece a las personas necesitadas es comida. Hay un gran banco de alimentos que proporciona alimentos a miles de familias en nuestra dióce-sis. Agradecemos a la gente de la diócesis porque muchos de ellos apoyan esta institución para brin-dar alimentos a los pobres. Durante la pandemia, la diócesis distribuyó miles de libras, o mejor dicho, toneladas de comida a la gente en los tres condados de nuestra diócesis. La diócesis puede servir a los pobres gracias a su gran generosidad y por apoyar la Campaña de Ministerios Diocesanos. Por lo tan-to, no se demore y envíe su tarjeta de compromiso compartiendo nuevamente sus bendiciones con la Iglesia, que a su vez compartirá con los necesitados.
