Redefining FinishingSince 1965
Overview
Established in 1965 as a UK leading family business, we’ve worked hard to design, develop and manufacture a product of high standard.
Using quality machinery, media and compounds, we indulge in process development that is unparalleled. All materials and machinery are subjected to extensive testing at our laboratory facility, ensuring the efficiency of our process is continually improving.
Our engineers have worked tirelessly over the years to provide you with quality and cost-effective finishing solutions. The developments have been in all areas of the Vibratory and High Energy finishing to optimise in accordance to your needs.

1975
19721980
It was around this time that we saw the opportunity to create our very own finishing
machinery. The first prototypes were the tub
range, which were then introduced to the Jaguar
Engine Plant based in Radford, Coventry. This
milestone led to the development of automatic bowl
machines.
The business became very successful after winning
important London-based client, Hoover. They used
ActOn’s chemical compounds to polish aluminium parts on
vacuum cleaners.
From 1980, we began exporting products overseas. One Swedish aluminium casting company bought 10 machines and compound consumables in one order!
On top of this, 1980 saw us employ our first sales rep, which led to the growth of an impressive sales team.

Bowls
Troughs
Each of our Bowls are simple to operate, highly efficient, and manufactured in classic designs and sizes to meet your unique applications.
We offer Troughs in many different sizes and an infinite choice of length and width combinations, making them one of our most versatile. These are particularly useful for larger components.
DualsThe orbital Dual finisher works to both deburr and dry in one single unit. This is both an excellent and economical finishing option.
DryersOur unique, elliptical-shaped Vibratory bowl drying machines are compact in size, and simple to operate. The design provides the flexibility to use it as an effective 1 lap drying process or a multi lap process. We also offer centrifugal dryers, conveyorised ovens and rotary dryers.
Wheel PolisherSuitable for achieving a highly polished finish on wheels with different sizes (up to 610 mm), the AWP188 machine has been designed to be simple to operate and to produce excellent results. The wheel polisher is great for grinding, smoothing and polishing processes.

Automation
Consumables
Both the Vibrota and High Energy can be automised to reduce
manual handling, and to ensure a consistent process. Our auto-
mated systems are operator friendly, and can be custom built
to suit your needs.
Our consumables are an important aspect of finishing. From ceramic,
plastic, drying and blasting media to liquid compounds, we ensure
that you achieve the optimum results in the most cost-effective way.
Please refer to our individual product brochures for more information.
Waste Water TreatmentDuring the finishing operation, the effluent can be polluted with oil,
media and metal fines. Our customers trust us to help select a waste
water treatment system that complies with the industry’s growing
regulations. Once processed, the effluent is treated in the ActOn
centrifuge system before being discharged to the drain or recycled.
Centrifugal Disc Finishing Centrifugal Disc finishing machines have been designed to be reliable and easy to operate. The spinning motion of the disc machine is given by the disc situated at the bottom of an open barrel. The rotating disc makes the media, compound and parts to move in a rolling motion, resulting in effective finishing process in the shortest time.
Shot Blasting TechnologyWe offer a wide range of shot blasting machines, including a Portable Abrasive Blasting Series, Wet Blasting Cabinets, Suction Blast Cabinets & Pressure Blast Cabinets, to help our customers achieve the surface finish they need every time.
11
Centrifugal High Energy Engineered with the latest technology, the drive mechanism is designed to produce high g-forces, resulting in shorter process times. This technology can be used for both wet and dry processes.

solutions, we offer a precision polishing service for components
from various industry sectors. With our barrelling capability,
high speed spindles and tooling, you will benefit in terms of
cost, delivery and quality.
Our trained inspectors ensure every component is
inspected to the required specification prior to delivery.
The inspections can include visual, dimensional and surface
finish measurements. Our document controls ensure that all
inspections are recorded for traceability purposes.
Subcontracting
Here at ActOn, we have an exclusive facility, equipped with
state-of-the-art finishing machinery, such as High Energy
(HE) and Vibratory machines. The HE machines provide a
speedy finishing solution, as well as a high quality finish to
the parts, eliminating any need for fixturing and preventing
their impingement. We also have Vibrota finishing equipment,
which processes parts of variable sizes and batch quantities.
13
High Energy and Vibratory Finishing Services
We also offer blasting service from our Coventry facility to
our customers in the Architectural, Automotive, Defence,
Design, Food Manufacturing, Health and Safety, Marine,
Steel Manufacturing and Profiling industries

Research & DevelopmentWe understand the importance of surface finishing in various industries, and have worked closely with major manufacturers across the globe to develop high quality finishing solutions. We are continually evolving our processes and machines, making them more effective.
We also have academic connections throughout the United Kingdom and around the
world, who help facilitate our Research and Development department, where we house
various metrological equipment to ensure that our customers’ requirements are met and
exceeded.
With projects involving modal and dynamic FEA analysis of our Vibratory machines,
and the persistent gathering of empirical data on our various compounds, medias and
machines, we strive to design and optimise everything we do to a high standard.
