PLEASE VOTE!
The person who is not afraid to get down and get dirty to work an event, needs your vote. The person who always says I can do that, needs your vote. The person who you can turn to when al I of your event workers have left, needs your vote. The person who is always wil I ing to learn, needs your vote. The person the club turns to when it must be done right, needs your vote.
VVINTERFEST
We have a chart of very capable people this year. Everyone of them has the abi I ity to lead PCA-WMR. Please vote for the candidates who are wi I ling to apply the i r ab iii ty •
This is not a popularity pol I; in fact, being an officer sometimes has the opposite effect. If you are not fami liar with our candidates, please read on in this issue.
Doug
Hi fellow Porsche Pushers. It's time to think festive. II'd like to toss some thoughts your way concerning PCA-WMR's WINTERFEST.
We have been working hard to create one of the greatest parties to happen ever. Each year gets a I ittle better and we might make the big time yet, who knows.
Mark your calendar for January 17th and I ine up your baby sitter, dog sitter, or whatever for the gala event.
Plan on bringing your own bottle (we willi supply the mix) and an empty stomach
as there wi I I be a buffet of food you won't bel ieve. Rich Graham is our caterer and if you are fami I iar with him you know what a spread he wi II lay on us. I f you don't know him, I suggest very strongly that you plan to meet him.
One other thing, be sure to wear comfortable shoes for dancing as there It, i I I be a band, and many other added surpri ses.
More info next month. Ti I I then,
Judy Cu I I

SAUGATUCK
Saugatuck Fal I 75 has come and gone. Now is the time to talk about what a great success it was, but that becomes grooved I ike an a II d record.
So, what can be said about such an event? Wei I, as event chairmen go, few can rival Rag Jacobs and Dan' I Dixon -- their attention to datai I could lend a lesson to the Senate Committee on Watergate. Thank you Dan' I and Rag. Doug and Shari did the timing, scoring a~d communications -- the heart and essence of an event I ike Saugatuck -- their hard work and long hours did not go unnoticed. Tech inspection is the guts of a safe race and our crew of Conkl in, Lanham, ~oses, and Cull sure as hell did a great job.
Joyce Looman was Joycee-on-the-spot al I day long and Terry Paw I gave us her a I I.
Cathy Balkan worked her first PCA event that day and she was really great. Thank you Cathy. Judy Huls also found out about ten hours of working the hi I I and then helped two more hours with clean up; she is a real Porsche person. And, Mary Maddalena is one of tre best new members we've come up with in a long time simply because she give us so much enthusiasm.
We can ment ion a I I the a Id re I i ab Ie workers and go on for hours about th"s event, but the word is out that PCA pul Is together and that is a fact!!
And, one last person; we have heard of the efforts of Mr. Paul Cannon. Next time you see Pau I you \'1 i I I be ob I igated to than k him for being an example of the hard working spirit which makes WMR the number one region.
A\N C'MON ROL LER DERBY
An auto rear-view mirror made in England has bui It-in indicator lights to tell a driver whether the turn signal'ights are on (or off) properly. By putting the~ in the mirror, rather than the instrument panel, the maker bel ieves it vii II remind drivers to use the mirror r~re often. The unit automatical Iy adjusts itself to avai lable light.
After much effort and many phone cal Is not returned, along with visits to the Roller Rink and locked doors, the Roller Derby wi II be temporari Iy delayed unti I a date not yet known. An early winter date is what I'm shooting for, so you wi II sti II have a few weeks to get your balance and some padded pants made.
Keep your eyes open for an Import Motors special showing of Porsche's new I ine up -maybe a 928 wi II be seen in a few pictures. Remember, if you drive past your exit on the expressway just to wave at a Porsche ahead of you, you're turning hard core and there's no cure except to go cold turkey, EEECCCHHH.
Keep that rubber side down,
Jerry Knapp

1976 CAND DA
FOR PRESIDENT: PHIL CULL
Three weeks ago, if someone had suggested that Ph i I Cu I I \."ou Id be runn i ng for office in the upcoming PCA-WMR election of officers, I would have been the first to laugh at them.
Pol itical ambitions are the farthest thing from my mind. In fact, my reasons for accepting a nomination were rather selfish.
It has been a privi ledge to enjoy the many benefits of being a member of the greatest region PCA National has ever chartered. The continuation of this most rewarding experience is of great significance to me. To accompl ish this, our region must have good leadership. If elected President, II wi II strive to help provicle the membership (myself included) a beautiful, fraternal relationship in the year ahead.
On the 25th of September, I celebrated my 36th birthday. The benefits of age (maturity, self control, discipl ine, experience, etc.) were certainly not my thoughts for the day.
When I arrived home from the office ton i ght, I was very ti red. It had been a typical hectic day involving three meetings
and numerous personal interfaces. Really, at that particular time, I \."as not too thankful for my fifteen years of business exposure and the experiences of working wI h many different types of personal ities every working day.
Bel ieve it or not!, those two conditions are assets to someone competing for a position such as a PCA Regional President.
Good attendance is an important criterion for any officer. The only club function that I have not participated in since jo in in PCA \."as the "Moses Bash" that took place t is summer whi Ie we were on vacation.
Outsi e of work, home and fami ly, I have no ad itional involvements, hobbies, athletic inTerests, etc., except for Porsche related activities. The time and energy required to get the job done would be avai lab Ie.
My bel ief is that next year's President should serve the Region as a representative of the general membership. It is imperative that t' e best interests of a I I the members be considered and that an "ear to the ground" program be maintained to enable awareness of individual needs, thoughts, and problems.

TE SPE CHES
FOR SECRETARY: MARYANN CONKLIN
I have enjoyed being secretary for PCA-WMR for the past year. I wou Id I ike to thank the nominating committee for their confidence in me. If I am elected for 1976, I wi I I continue to do my very best for PCA-WMR.
FOR SECRETARY: ~UDY CULL
Now that it is my turn to give you my reason for runn I ng as Secretary, I' I I be brief, but honest.
WMR has become a great part of my life, not to mention the amount of knowledge the people have so wi I I ingly passed on to me.
As a participant, worker, or both at almost al I events, many things always come to mind, as they do now, that are important to a well organized, good functioning club. They are: promptness, accuracy, neatness, and realiability.
The abo e assets are very necessary in
a Secretary as well as in the other officers: \'~hy do I feel I have those qual ifications?
For the past 10 years, I have worked in the medical field as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and al I of the above plus many other things are necessary to be a good nurse. I can relate my professional experiences and my love for my Porsche to the requirements for a good PCA-WMR board member.
Time needed for this duty is what I have, due to the fact that I have no other responsibi I ities other than Phi I, my husband, and a si Iver Toy Poodle named Hobo.
