Marbank is a marine bio-bank that collects, preserves and catalogues biological material from Norwegian waters. Material collected in the bio-bank is available to national R & D groups and industries that carry out basic and applied research on marine bio molecules.

Marbio is a high capacity analysis platform for screening and identification of unique bioactive molecules isolated from marine material. Marbio performs searches for material that can kill off cancer cells and stimulate the immune system or prevent the growth of bacteria and viruses.

The Norwegian College of Fishery Science is the only institu-

tion in Norway that offers bachelor, master and doctorate degrees in

marine biotechnology, in addition to the cross-discipline (and well known) study of fisheries and aquaculture (Master in Fishery Science).From 2006 internship is also offered – a unique work experience arrangement with mutual advantages for the student and businesses.

Bioklynge Nord

The Innovation and Technology Programme in Northern Norway ( NT- programme) contributes to increased innovation in existing and new technology companies in Northern Norway. The NT Pro-gramme can offer economic and professional support for the development of products and/or new production techniques, from the first idea phase right up to their introduction into the market. The projects must be tech-nologically advanced and have considerable market potential.
