MabCent is a centre for research-driven innovation (SFI) associated
with Tromsø University. MabCent is a cooperation between various
R & D environments and national and international industry companies.

Marbank is a marine bio-bank that collects, preserves and catalogues biological material from Norwegian waters. Material collected in the bio-bank is available to national R & D groups and industries that carry out basic and applied research on marine bio molecules.
Marbio is a high capacity analysis platform for screening and identification of unique bioactive molecules isolated from marine material. Marbio performs searches for material that can kill off cancer cells and stimulate the immune system or prevent the growth of bacteria and viruses.

The Norwegian College of Fishery Science is the only institu-
tion in Norway that offers bachelor, master and doctorate degrees in
marine biotechnology, in addition to the cross-discipline (and well known) study of fisheries and aquaculture (Master in Fishery Science).From 2006 internship is also offered – a unique work experience arrangement with mutual advantages for the student and businesses.

The Biotechnology and Aquaculture Forum (FBH) is an arena for companies, re-searchers and policy instrument institutions. Fiskeriforskning (Norwegian Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture Research) is a national institution that carries out research and development work for the fisheries and aquaculture industry. The facilities of Fiskeriforskning in Tromsø and Bergen are an important part of the national infrastructure for fisheries and aquaculture.
