Call to Worship

God awakens us to this new day and draws us to our time of worship.

Here we can acknowledge the love of Christ, who showed us the true path of obedience and humility.

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna to our king!

Prayer of Approach (in unison)

God whom we praise, as we meet with you this morning we become aware of your presence with us, coming to us as surely as you rode into Jerusalem long ago. We offer you our own prayers, our own Hosannas, for all that you have done for us. We ask you for strength and guidance as we seek to lead a life that welcomes Christ into its midst. May our worship always reflect the enthusiasm that your love for us inspires. Amen.

Songs Scott Marsh

Give Me Oil in My Lamp

Give me Oil in my Lamp keep me burning Give me Oil in my Lamp I pray Give me Oil in my Lamp keep me burning Keep me burning till the break of day.

Sing Hosanna, Sing Hosanna, Sing Hosanna to the King of Kings

Give me joy in my heart, keep me serving Give me joy in my heart I pray Give me joy in my heart keep me serving Keep me serving till the break of day.

Shout Hosanna, Shout Hosanna, Shout Hosanna to the King of Kings

Give me peace in my soul keep me resting Give me peace in my soul I pray Give me peace in my soul keep me resting Keep me resting till the break of day.

Jump Hosanna, Jump Hosanna, Jump Hosanna, Jump Hosanna to the King of Kings Dance Hosanna, Dance Hosanna, Dance Hosanna to the King of Kings.

The Father Loves Me

I wanna clap my hands, Stomp my feet, Pound on a drum, Swing on a tree - Wheee! I am so free 'cause the Father loves me!

He gives us bread, So we can be fed. We are his daughters and sons. I forgive you 'Cause He forgives me, too, And I want His Kingdom To come-a-come-a-come!

- 4 -

He wants us to see That we can be free To be His daughters and sons. His is the power and the glory for ever, And I know His kingdom has come.

Prayer of Confession (in unison)

Merciful God, we voice our praises to Christ, count ourselves as his followers, listen in support of the crowds who cheer you each Palm Sunday. Yet we have not given Christ the importance in our lives that we should as believing people. We do not always show in our actions the faith and compassion that you ask of us. Our commitment to your Way has sometimes proven to be shallow. Open our hearts that we might feel more deeply the love you demonstrate for us and would have us share. In Christ’s name. Amen

Words of Assurance

Paul writes that “every knee should bend… and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” As we have confessed our need of God’s power in our lives, so may God have mercy on us and strengthen us. God forgives us, and renews us for service. Praise be to God!

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

We Learn and Listen

Prayer of Illumination Linda Edgar

Loving God, open our hearts to understand the mystery of the love you have shown us in Christ. As we hear the words of Christ’s obedience to your will, speak to our hearts and encourage our own obedience. Amen.

Volunteers for scripture readers, greeters and baker’s dozen for April. Sign up sheet is in the atrium. Thanks for your help! The Annex and St. Paul's have realized a need for a Nursery Care Coordinator to organize a nursery for our youngest members. This would entail organizing appropriate toys, crafts and snacks, and coordi-nating weekly volunteers. Please contact Lesley Fraser at [email protected].

Please take any bulletins and other materials either home with you or place in the recycling containers outside the sanctuary to help us prepare for its next usage this afternoon. Your help is very much appreciated! Those with perfume allergies would appreciate it if you would leave your lovely scents at home! Thanks!
