Technologies that Make a Difference

One of our main strengths lies in our ability to design and produce RFID antenna technologies that are optimized for specific application fields. Across our broad portfolio, we utilize ICs from all the leading chip manufacturers.

Our etching technology offers the advantage of manufac-turing several elaborate antenna structures during the same process. Etched antennas allow specific antenna designs for applications such as supply-chain management, inventory or media management.

Coil winding is the technology we choose to produce small glass transponders for applications such as animal identifi-cation and car immobilizers. Using rugged enclosures, the technology is also suitable for use in harsh environments such as factory automation or laundry management.

Printing with conductive ink and secure optical markers enables us to deploy and produce new antenna shapes and brand protection solutions in-house. This allows for the fast and economical realization of new designs to be printed on various substrates or materials, enabling novel applications in packaging, on physical goods and beyond.

Our secure optical markers focus on visible technologies such as color-shifting ink and QR codes, as well as on Traceless® and encrypted markers for invisible serialization and concealed solutions, which ultra-guard products and ultimately protect brands.

* An RFID transponder is a small device that emits an identifying signal in response to a received interrogation signal. A passive (no battery) RFID transponder

is basically a combination of an integrated circuit (IC) that stores the tag’s ID and other information, and an antenna that gathers energy and transmits/receives

signals. RFID transponders are available in different structural shapes, such as inlays and tags.

RFID Hard and Glass Tags

Our broad range of robust transponders for use in demand-ing and harsh environments are commonly found in the manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, maritime, oil, gas and chemical industries, as well as logistics and supply chain applications. Designed to meet specific requirements and available in all common frequencies, the key features of our hard tags include resistance to dust, chemicals, mechanical stress, liquids and high temperatures.

Providing a flexible and reliable solution principally for secure animal identification, our Glass Tags are made from biocompatible glass and are available in several sizes and frequencies.

RFID Sensor Inlays and Tags

With a growing number of antenna choices and sensor ICs, our inlays and tags provide flexible, state-of-the-art solutions to accurately measure leakage, moisture and temperature conditions in applications such as supply chain and asset management, automotive, pharmaceuticals or healthcare. These passive, single-chip sensor solutions are cost-effec-tive and easy to implement, can be deployed where active or semi-active sensors are impractical, and work on different surface materials ranging from textiles to metal parts to construction materials.

RFID Frequency Ranges

High frequency

(HF, 13.56 MHz)

works well on objects made of metal, and can work

around goods with medium to high water content.

HF RFID systems have a read range of about 1 m;

applications include brand protection and tracking

library books. NFC tags operate in the HF range.

Low frequency

(LF, 125 – 134 kHz)

is better able to penetrate thin, metallic substances.

Additionally, LF RFID systems are ideal for reading

objects with high water content, but their read

range is limited to centimeters. Typical applications

include immobilizer systems and animal tagging.

Ultra-high frequency

(UHF, 860 – 960 MHz)

passive transponders typically offer a read range of

up to 10 meters and fast data transfer. UHF RFID,

also known as RAIN RFID, covers many types of

retail and industrial applications, like item-level

tagging and inventory management.
