From the very beginning, personal accountability has been the pride and expectation of every Rick employee,

top to bottom. What was obvious for Glenn A. Rick, the company’s founder in 1955, was quickly encouraged

throughout the firm: be professionally and individually responsible to your clients, your co-workers, and your

At Rick, each employee personifies the company. Our staff has an astounding record of longevity with the

firm. As of today, 72% of employees have been with our company more than five years and 46% more than

10 years. An astonishing 22% have been with Rick 20 years or more. Long-time employees have helped us

As Rick has grown, currently to eight offices, our history of promoting from within has allowed consistent com-

A resident of San Diego since 1927, *Glenn A. Rick had been actively engaged in

shaping the community, serving with, and later heading, the City of San Diego’s

Planning Department from 1928–1955. When he, along with the help of his son Bill,

founded Rick Engineering Company, the man who became known for his foresight

in creating a recreation and tourist mecca as “the father of Mission Bay” was already

envisioning the San Diego we live in today.

Rick’s expectation of how the community would develop but-

tressed his focus for the firm and led to an impressive array of

future projects that would include Fashion Valley and University

Towne Centre malls; and entire communities, including Scripps

Ranch, Sabre Springs, Black Mountain Ranch, and EastLake

Residential/Golf Course Community, to house the constant

stream of new residents to our area.
